    Turbo?

    I have a 2016 S3.

I've done a lot of research, but just like the "breaking in" theory, there are a lot of theories out there about cooling down the turbo.

I noticed that hard a hard boot, when i turn off the car (if i didn't have enough time to drive slowly for 1-2kms) that there was a small noise coming out of the motor (after i've turned off the car).

I called the dealer about this and apparently Audi's will have a fan running and the water pump remains on to pump coolant through the vehicle for 2-10 minutes after you turn off the car. Sorta like a internal turbo timer.

Now when i got the car a week ago (hard break in), i did cool it down by driving slowly for 3-5 mins before turning off AND sitting in the parking spot for 30seconds - 1 minute and didn't notice the fan running after i've turned off the car.

    Anyone else notice this?

Newer style turbo's are water and oil cooled, the factory has more then enough provisions for this. Turbo timers and all that stuff is a waste of time, unless you are coming off the track lapping or doing mile long pulls at full throttle, there is no need to let the car "cool" down.
