Car starts and immediately dies, immobilizer light flashing

My car has been sitting for a few weeks and when I went to start it dead as a rock. I mean like there might as well have been no battery installed dead lol.

After finally getting the battery taken care of the car started just fine and immediately died. Did the same thing the following time and every time after. I did notice the immobilizer light was blinking.

Any thoughts as to what happened? Scanned for codes via old scanner, none popped up. I'll have to find my VAG COM.

Your key could have taken a shit. Try another one and see if it happens. Youll have to clear the immobilizer code first though

Tried both keys, and as originally posted no codes.

My car did the same thing recently. Had to buy a new immobilizer chip and have it programmed now all is well. The fact both keys dont work is troubling. I have heard of the immo sensor in the column going out but never seen it personally.
