    E85 with muffler delete?

Anybody done it? I'm wondering if the sound is bearable. Thinking about doing it. Car is already on e85. My exhaust has been way quieter on the new fuel.

If not, is it manageable on gas?

The most important thing is no drone on the freeway. That's something I can't deal with lol.

I have a lot of time in a friend's car with test pipe and muffler delete (stock resonator still in place). While drone is subjective to some degree, my tolerance for it is quite low, and I can say that the B7 is very reasonable. The only time the drone was intrusive is under high load at low RPMs, and aftermarket exhausts are not immune to that either.

That car was running 93 octane, so if you're claiming E85 quiets it, of course your experience will be quieter than mine. I don't see any logic in your exhaust being quieter with E85, though.

Thank you for the thorough response. I've been contemplating this for a while and I think you have got me convinced.

Regarding the logic of exhaust being quieter.. I agree with you. I don't know exactly why. It has been something I have noticed on this car and my old S13. My S13 was obnoxious as hell and once it was on e85, it was livable.

The only logical reason I can come up with is that there is a higher volume of liquid in the cylinder (e85 requires more fuel to be stoich). Liquid is much better at absorbing vibrations and shockwaves I would assume are being caused by the combustion process.

More fuel burnt per cycle, more exhaust gas = faster flow and potentially less turbulence = less noise. Just my thoughts.

Mate, did you change the fuel lines to be E85 compliant, or anything else?

Hmm. The interesting thing I've noticed is that I've herd both sides. Some of my friends say didn't hear any difference in their cars and some others, including myself, say it changed the exhaust note. To me, it's noticeably deeper.

You have any exhaust mods by any chance?

I guess for anyone that has heard my exhaust can chime in, but i wanna say for the most part the tone is the same.

Who makes an E85 tune for the cars? I’m assuming you cant just put alcohol in the tank on a stock or canned tune and reap the benefits. My buddy with an evo raves about E85 like its the second coming of Christ and I’d love to try it out. Especially if the fuel lines will hold up to it.

It's a custom tune on eurodyne. I would say this car is much more difficult to manage than a port injected car. Cold start sucks and partial throttle fueling isnt perfect. (These are prolly because of my tune) It is safe at least

My car was pretty hard to tune... And it's still not perfect.

Overall, I would not recommended it. Once I get the cold start ironed out, then I'll be more happy

I have noticed quicker throttle response, more power everywhere in the rev range, and smoother idle. These are all slight improvements really for me.

The biggest reason why I switched was because I was knocking real hard on eurodyne OTS stage 2. On e85; zero knock.

So far the only full e85 tune on the market for the b7, as far as I know....
Anyways it comes with a full e85 sniffer kit too. I have no complaints on the tune or running e85 other than fueling up more due to a heavy foot and now chasing fueling upgrades so I can support a bigger turbo than the k04

No sir no issues as of yet. Fuel tank was still clean, fuel coming through the lines are clean, no brittle feeling fuel lines. Everything seems solid still
