So I found a vacuum leak in my intake and it's the upper gasket. Audi does not make one nor aftermarket. Anyone have any ideas?

I have a leak somewhere as well. Not sure where yet but I'd like to know about this in case I have the same issue

Are you talking about where the 2 halves of the intake manifold meet? If so, its just an RTV sealer

There's an outfit named Olson's Gaskets in Port Orchard WA that I've used for my Caterpillar equipment where the gaskets are no longer available. Give them a call to see what would be required for them to make you a new gasket. I know for Caterpillar they get the blueprints from Cat but if Audi's not willing to share, you might be able to send them your current gasket and have them make up a copy (and they'll create their own blueprint for future use). Their prices are very reasonable. olsonsgaskets.com
(Edit: I just saw aroderick's post so this might not apply for the intake manifold, but make a note of it anyway because Olsons seem to be able to make any kind of flexible gasket - not sure about the steel ones but could be worth asking if there's ever a need)

what exactly do you mean by "upper gasket" ?
can you describe where it is or post a picture of the general location of the leak ?

Hey sorry been working on that stupid coolant temp sensor. It's the gasket where the two halves meet. I used rtv on it and I haven't put it back together yet will post back when everything is together. Then she goes off to paint!

yeah, i have a serious lack of bead skill for that, hence why I have 2 up to sell, both mine had ruined gaskets and I cleaned them out, should have just kept them in there and used a little RTV to fix it instead of creating a headache like I did, but on the other hand, now I can just clean them out and try to sell them complete or piece by piece.

There is no gasket between the 2 halves. you use RTV on it. There really is no headache other than making sure the two halves are clean where they meet so the new RTV will seal. I had mine pulled about and resealed in less than 20 minutes

You should separate the top half is you are having it painted or powder coated. makes it easier.

I use this shit on everything that needs sealed without a true gasket

there is a groove that had a gasket already there, I pulled it out and that is the issue, i cannot seem to get a bead good enough to not have a leak.. I suck at that, its like embarrassing bad..

I will clean them out again and retry.

You can get the black rtv with the nozzle to make life easier. Cut it 2 notches down and you can lay a good bead on the groove.

Yup, as aroderick said its just RTV sealant. Also once you part them take a good look where the bad seal it. I actually had a hairline crack on mine. And when i pulled them apart and touched the crack it broke off. It actually cracked from the inside out. So double check you dont actually have a crack.

Thanks everyone, also, there was a post on the forums about a guy who was doing custom made connectors for the B6, search the forums for that, it may be the thing you need.
