AoC ; do I have a case here ? Anyone thinking about CPO, be warned !

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Car was left at the dealer at 79 000km.. then the car was sold to me at 90 000 km. Got the CPO warranty.. Now it has 105 000 km.

    Here's all the problem I had so far with the car in 9 months ;

    1. Start button peeling off ; Only covered under first warranty
    2. Front fender chipping ; only first warranty
    3. Paint bubble rear fender ; too soon to do anything about it
    4. One front speaker was buzzling ; not covered under CPO
    5. Heat shielf passenger side making noise ; couldn't replicate the rattle, so can't fix it.
    6. Stripped License plate nut ( dealer install plate when taking delivery of the car) ; not covered at all, its 324$cnd
    7. bAD a/c smell ; not covered under warranty ( altought there's a tsb for that)
    8. Vibration and rattle sound on startup cold ; couldn't replicate the sound , won't fix it.
    9. Evidence of leak near PCV valve ( picture while doing the carbon clean up) ; dealer said it's clean and it was propably spliling gasoline ..
    10. CPO cars leaving the dealer should have minimum of 50% brake and tires. My tire were between 40-50% and had 2 nails on 2 different tires... + low oil level on MMI after 500km. So inspection was very minimal.

Probably forgetting one or 2 things.. I mean.. what's the point of CPO beside tranny malfunction ? Nothing seems to be covered.

Update ; so I took my car back... to add some icing on the cake... Audi charged me 550$ because they removed the Supercharger and put new gasket.. ( althought no one ever told me if I wanted new gasket or what the price would be if ever they found out my pcv isn't faulty)..

Honestly, i offer the biggest fKc you to Audi. a nice deep one.

Just read the CPO documents and you will know whats covered. Most only want the cpo for powertrain issues like myself. I was well aware of whats covered and whats not. I agree with you being pissed about this stuff since you didn't know though.

I had a couple minor issues after purchase as cpo. Loose trim on windshield, side mirror, and speaker surround. Original dealer where I bought car was out of state so I went to the closest local dealer. They screwed up my appointment day and time, denied loaner vehicle, left greasy fingerprints all over my car while "inspecting" it, and told me none of it is covered. After asking around, I found the next closest dealer, who had a much better reputation among those I asked. They gave me a new s3 loaner and repaired everything under cpo warranty. You can guess which dealer will get my future business. Might be worth trying another dealer before kicking it up to AoC.

It's all about what dealer you use, try another dealer.

I agree, it's totally the dealer!

The dealer I dealt with in Toronto when my pulley failed would not accept my AOA CPO warranty, while before I got home my dealer was working to get me reimbursed! Dealer in Canada did not change belts like I asked, and i had to argue to get the one they eventually did done, Audi PP told me they would look at and take care of the other one when I got home. Dealers make all the difference in owning these cars!

    1. Yup that sucks. I need to get a phone screen protector and trim to fit before mine does this.
    2. This should fall under the 12 year (or is it 10) paint and body warranty. Needs to actually be rusting for them to fix it though. I need to get that fixed on my car too.
    3.
    4. Mine does that a bit. People say it is just the grille and it is easy to fix. I haven't looked at it yet because it isn't too bad for me, only happens rarely.
    5
    6. Mine did that. I drilled two holes in my plate frame bottom so my plate is held on by 2 sided foam tape and the 2 bottom screws. I didn't think to ask the dealer to fix this before my warranty ended. Not the end of the world to me.
    7. Run your heater or just turn off AC for a second before turning off the car. Should clear that up. Otherwise they make cleaning products for this.
    8. This is probably timing chain rattle. Audi says it is fine as long as it is under 3 seconds.
    9. Dealer replaced my PCV valve under CPO no problem.
    10. Hopefully you didn't burn a quart in 500km! I doubt that though.

    1. Start button peeling off ; Only covered under first warranty
    - Just get a red-ringed start button off ebay for $80CAD. It looks great and gives starting the car a sense of occasion. If you want an OEM non-red-ringed start button PM me and we can talk $$. It's really simple to install too.

    2. Front fender chipping ; only first warranty
    - Facts of driving, I would be surprised if your claim would be approved even under the first warranty

    3. Paint bubble rear fender ; too soon to do anything about it
    - The rear bumper is mostly plastic, do you mean the quarter panel? Get a quote from a body shop, if your rear quarter panel is rusting get that checked before it gets too bad.

    4. One front speaker was buzzling ; not covered under CPO
    - Sounds like a blown speaker. Either you blew it while listening to music too loud, or it was blown when you bought the car in which case you should have inspected the car a lot more.

    5. Heat shielf passenger side making noise ; couldn't replicate the rattle, so can't fix it.
    - Can you replicate it now? If you can, take a video and bring that into the dealership so they at least know what you're talking about.

    6. Stripped License plate nut ( dealer install plate when taking delivery of the car) ; not covered at all, its 324$cnd
    - If the dealership damaged the car while doing the PPI, they should repair it. If they don't, then I think you have grounds to go looking elsewhere. Though this will be hard to prove. Is it that big of a deal? Which side of the car is this on?

    7. bAD a/c smell ; not covered under warranty ( altought there's a tsb for that)
    - This happens to all cars with AC's, if you don't let the evap coils warm up before shutting the car off. Mine stinks something fierce. Most body shops can drop an ozone bomb into your car which will kill whatever is producing the smell (forget if its mould or bacteria or both?)

    8. Vibration and rattle sound on startup cold ; couldn't replicate the sound , won't fix it.
    - Again, can you replicate it now? If you can, take a video in. If you can't...then maybe there is nothing to fix? When looking for cold-start rattles, the exhaust is a good starting point.

    9. Evidence of leak near PCV valve ( picture while doing the carbon clean up) ; dealer said it's clean and it was propably spliling gasoline ..
    - Is it black? Oil is black and will stick around. Gaosline would just look wet, and evaporate after a few minutes. Take pictures of the stain, clean it up with some engine bay cleaner from Canadian Tire, then check it again in 3-4 weeks. If there's a new stain showing up, then you have a leak.

    10. CPO cars leaving the dealer should have minimum of 50% brake and tires. My tire were between 40-50% and had 2 nails on 2 different tires... + low oil level on MMI after 500km. So inspection was very minimal.
    - This is part of the CPO process. Did you get a copy of your CPO checklist when you bought the car? Of all your complaints, IMO this is your strongest one yet. It does sound like your car did not get its CPO walkthrough at all. When I bought my A4, the dealership delayed delivery a few hours because during the CPO checklist, they found the tires were worn past the CPO limit, so they put a set of new tires on it. Were I in your shoes and willing to push hard on any point, this would be it.

Good luck, let us know how it works out for you. Remember that most dealerships love CPO because it gives them more chances to dip into that sweet sweet bucket of warranty money that Audi has...

I will def. be using tape for my licence plate but kinda piss me off to do a hack job on a 60kish car right ?

I'm not burning oil.. I just think they didn,t even top it off the oil LOL.. I think a complimentary oil change would've been nice for a 45k$ cpo to be release but guess topping the oil was also too much to ask..

Here is my setup. I don't think anyone has ever noticed. Doesn't rattle or anything.
