Forge Motorsports Heat Exchanger for B8.5

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I ordered the AWE Heat Exchanger on June 8th and it still hasn't arrived. It looks like its going to be another month before it ships, so I'm likely to cancel the order and I'm now considering the Forge Motorsports Heat Exchanger.

Does anyone have an opinion on it? Anyone have it installed in their S4?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

    Hello !

My Buddy (with an S5) and myself will surely install this HX by the begining of this Fall.
Will report back, but i think there are no reasons it should not work as well as competitors. (-/+ it has not large capacity reservoir, only hudge HX + divorced system)

    Cheers,

More than $400 less, plus PLM's reservoir is larger.

This kit is easy to install and the fit and finish is great! Have installed it on a few cars. With all the hoses there and no cutting!!

I was looking at Forge too originally but after the awe 20% off, I went that route. I do like how the Forge heat exchanger comes in black already but like others have said PLM will yield you the same results for less.

Thanks all! I ended up ordering the Forge HX. I didn't know it but they are local here in Orlando, FL so I'm getting it tomorrow and will have it installed on Tuesday.

I just got back from the drag strip and noticed their sign up as they are one of the sponsors, haha

    Hello,

Forge has a european shop. That makes this Forge HX the cheapest here in France, By far. (with the REVO one i think)
It also comes with all the silicone hoses for your exact car configuration (there are 5 refs in total) and install is without cutings.

    Cheers !

Wow, you sure did get your cooling system fast! Can't wait to see if you can run quicker than that 11.9xx in this near 2,000 d/a like you did last week on that APR stage 2 pump file!

Same here, otherwise a dual pulley setup will be the next thing I have overnighted to the house and installed, haha :)

I received the ECS Tuning Grille.

I haven't snapped the rings in yet, but have them laying on top where they snap in for presentation purposes...

Just picked up my S4 from FS Tuning in Orlando. Had the Forge Motorsport Heat Exchanger installed (it's huge) and had them install the RS4 style grill. Hopefully this will help combat our crazy summer heat. I had them paint the crash bar matte black and the Heat Exchanger was already black, so it's super stealth :)

    Looks good man!

How much did install end up costing you?

Wish I would have followed suit and backed out of the AWE sale.

Could have had this on my car by now.

$525 for the HX install, $75 for the grill install. They said the HX install took a little longer than expected, something about running the lines were a pain in the ass.

Seems about right. I believe most shops were quoting 3-6 hours for the HX install.

I will contact a few local shops and see what they can do.

If they can't do something <$500 I will probably just do it myself.

Chrisucf I am really looking forward to hearing if you can notice any difference at all w/ the heat exchanger when it comes to heat soak and every day drivability in the southern heat and humidity. I have not installed my awe kit yet, it's sitting in my garage for another week or two but i'm really wondering if I'll even tell any difference after install.

Also, the absolute easiest way to re-attach your S4 emblem to the RS4 grille, is Quicksteel putty. Just ball some of the putty up, mash it behind the emblem, make sure its touching the emblem and the grille and it dries as hard as, well... steel, in a matter of minutes. The emblem will be on there hard as rock.
