    Clarification about 75k DSG service...

Can anyone confirm or clarify what filters need to be changed on the 75k DSG service. It appears that our cars with DSG have both an "external" and "internal" filter. What filters need to be change at the 75k mark? I am about to get my DSG 75k service at a shop tomorrow(not the dealership) and was quoted $500 for the service. I am beginning to think that that's for changing out the "external" filter and new fluids only. I've heard people dropping the pan and changing the "internal" filter as well. What should I do? Am I good with changing the "external" filter at 75k or should I change both then "internal" and "external" DSG filters? Thanks for the help

Bumping this question. I was just quoted $440 for a local trusted shop to perform the 35k mile DSG service. Tech said is was fluid and external filter only. Is that sufficient or should an internal filter be changed also?

I replaced my internal filter as well, why not? You should drop the pan and clean it as it will have a lot of metallic slime on it. Also a lot of early b8's did not have an external filter, mine did not (2010). There are a couple good write ups on this here.

If you search, I have a "how to" on changing both filters yourself with torque sequence and specs. I highly recommend changing both filters and completely cleaning out the trans pan of metal shavings, especially if it's never been done. I also highly recommend using oem fluids and filters.
