    Timing belt help please

So I did the timing belt job this past weekend (using Phils DIY) and got all my marks lined up and the car runs great but the problem now is that the belt doesn't want to center on the pulleys?! It is making a bit of a squeel and one side of the belt is fraying. Did I do something wrong and is there an easy fix without removing the whole front end again?

I can't tell you what happened, but I can say that if the belt is starting to fray you better replace it again. I wouldn't trust that at all.

I had this exact thing happen to me. The cause ended up being the tensioner stud. Somehow I managed to bend it slightly while I had the head off. After installing a new stud, all was good. I would replace all bolts and studs associated with the tensioner and idler bearings.

Did you keep the same belt? Seems sketchy.

I did keep the belt, but I noticed it wasn't centered before I put everything back together. I always rotate the crank by hand a few times to check.

Crank the engine by hand a few times and see what happens. If the belt is centered, then while the upper timing cover is off, start it and let it run, notice how the belt moves, does it sway etc? record it if u want and view in slow motion, that will give u an idea. Only things I can think that could mess the belt is, as mentioned before a bent bolt for one of the tensioners, or possibly something being stuck on the inside of the belt, could be debris? or worn bearings on tensioners. Did you replace the tensioners?

Yes, I replaced the belt, water pump, belt tensioner and the two idler wheels.
