    Removing resonator on stock DP vs getting after market non res DP

    So, another member pointed this out - instead of getting an after market non res DP, he removed the stock dp resonator which only cost him 1/4 of getting after market non res DP.

    Anyone else here have the same experience? on removing your stock resonator? As much as I'm patiently wait for used ones on the after market non res DP but seems people are holding on theirs.

    I'm kind of ready to shell out for new one but if I can have better deal, why not? Any advantage/disadvantage on removing your stock resonator? sound wise would there be a lot of difference?

    I'd like to know this as well. I have AWE Touring on my B8 and I would love a little more sound to it.

    I haven't done this on my S5 yet, but did it on my XFR. Total cost was under $100. There really is no reason to go aftermarket simply to remove a resonator, I plan on doing the same once I get an aftermarket exhaust

    I removed the resonator on my stock dp, also had awe track. And my friends car, with awe none res downpipe and awe track sounded much nicer than mine. Weird i know but i would say dont cheap out and buy the downpipe

    I'm not cheaping out LOL, any chance you have sound clip on yours? I've seen bunch on youtube for AWE non res DP/AWE track combo (btw I have AWE track exhaust as well).

    I got the jhm catless test pipes installed and went to the touring exhaust cause its so loud so im on a completely different setup now

    if you don't mind me asking how much did you pay to get the test pipes installed because I have them but this shop where I was going to get the test pipes and non res downpipes installed originally told me 250 for both then called after I dropped the car off and said I would have to charge you 12 hours of labor just for the test pipes. I ended up just getting the downpipes installed for 150

    700. Took around 12 hours lol. Jhm claims u dont have to drop the trans but my audi tech that installed it couldnt install it unless he lowered the trans

    @TTRStud drone isn't much of an issue, especially with the windows up. The cabin does a good job of muffling the noise, I don't know how loud the car is unless I'm outside. It drones when you are too high of a gear or course, but besides that not bad.

    Thanks! I guess I should have asked...any discernible difference in drone (not volume/loudness) in going from resonated to non-resonated?

    Also, are your fogs hid's, bulbs, or simply overlays over the glass? Love'em and going for the same look :)

    @TTRStud a bit more drone maybe? Again, not enough to bother me. Manual is key, I don't know if I would have done it if I had a DSG.

    My fogs are bulbs! I got them from an eBay member.. Can't find the link because it was a while back. I'll look for the box and message you a picture when I find them. They were cheap and look awesome. Thanks!

    Well, mine is DSG..and I can hear drone a bit so do you think if I remove the resonator will make the drone louder in the cabin?

    From what I've read in other posts, folks tend to avoid non res with DSG...I guess if you ride in sport or something it might not be as bad. It depends on what you can handle? Luckily the AUDI cabins are so well insulated that outside noise is mostly muffled. I would maybe look up some videos with non res DSG on YouTube. Might find something?

    On a side note, you can get these removed, and if you don't like it, reinstalled for probably half the price of a new AWE non res DP.

    this is my 6MT JHM Catless test pipes. AWE none resonated downpipes and AWE touring exhaust WOT run. Loud inside the cabin, sounds terrifying just how i want it. I had the track exhaust but that was way way way to loud with the catless test pipes

    Please let me know when you find the box! Also, how's the rubber seal around the bulbs' bases? Do they deal properly? Many aftermarket bulbs lead to condensation inside the housings. Thanks!
