I found a service manual for my Allroad, electronic copy, for $7.44. Thinking it was too good to be true but a minimal gamble I bought it and was sent a link to download. Not only was it unusable with no index pages for 5k plus pages I am pretty sure it crashed my laptop and made it run extremely slow. I had to use a backup point to recover. The seller had a bunch of other similar manuals for sale in the same format.

Was it the Bentley DVD? It won't run in newer Windows operating systems but it should give you access to their website which has the online version of the manual.

I bought an ELSAWin download from eBay once and the seller gave me a torrent link via email. Absolute garbage for something I could've just searched for. The program was so old that it couldn't run on 64bit Windows. Complete joke and eBay/Paypal wouldn't help dispute illegal download purchases. I guess buyer beware.

Not Bentley, it was truly a factory page by page procedure manual just impossible to use because it was out of order and had no indexes.

Update: My laptop is back to normal. I told they seller that I have a friend that is a DOD cyber security contractor that will be looking into the origins of his scam and if it is a computer phishing scam/ransom ware. He agreed to refund my purchase.

The lesson here folks, is if someone is selling something electronic on eBay, there's a 95% chance it can be found somewhere for free. Elsawin is great, I just run it in a virtual machine. Newer versions of vmware let you combine the 2 desktops so you don't have to switch back and forth between vm and your regular desktop.

moral of the story: dont buy a crack from a creepy pirate dude on ebay, become a pirate yourself! you can sidestep all the horror awaiting
