Hey guys i am working out some wiring issues on my 01 a4 with a 01 AWN v8 swap, problem is, i cannot find AWN wiring info anywhere, only ART, but the 7.1.1 for the AWN is different than 7.1 for ART, below is the info that i have, but it doesn't show VSS ECU pinout, anyone able to add on what i have or have any further info? all help greatly appreciated

Thank you so much! do you know a link for a 2001 though, i think 02 has a few changes ( Full Can Line, and i think vss is controlled by wheel speed sensors)

When I look it up in ELSA for 2001 it only shows up ART engine. I didn't think they had AWN in 2001.

Here is a 2001 diagram. When I force it to show me AWN for 2001 it only has the ART diagram.

My wiring info might be helpful

The vss signal doesn't go directly to the ecu, it goes from the vss directly to the cluster. You have to loop it at the cabin plugs if memory serves correctly. I think the ecu mainly uses VSS for cruise control.

From what i have found 00 is ART and uses Pin 54 on ECU for VSS, on 01 which is AWN, the only ECU pinout i have found doesnt show a VSS on ECU

Do you have any more information on looping this wire?

my issue is with ecu not seeing vss, it sets a code and limits rpm way lower than redline

correct that 00 is ART, but 01 used AWN, and when i had spoken with Daz about flashing the ecu, he was very specific that i got an early 01 ECU because they were ME 7.1.1 but without full Can line like 2002+ has. and he flashed my provided 01 ecu to his modified Euro S6 flash and coded for manual trans

The 2001 and 2002 diagrams both show the same vss connection via cruise control switch. VSS goes to cluster first and then to cruise control switch and then to ECU. Here is the diagram that shows the ECU connection. Only one that gets signal at all times White Plug Pin 10 that goes to pin 38 on ECU.

Follow G21 that is the VSS sensor.

so i followed speed sensor wire up to cluster, then found output from cluster, now i need to pin that to cruise contol switch white plug pin 10?

The VSS pin on the ecu is supposedly pin 54. Can you trace the wiring harness and see what color wire you have coming out of pin 54 and which connector in the plenum it connects to? The diagrams do not show pin 54 anywhere, yet Daz claims that is where VSS signal goes to. The signal from the VSS sensor ends up in T10p/10 which the black connector pin 10. So you need to loop that pin to whatever pin is coming out of 54.

Here is what daz posted somewhere else about the VSS.

Verify that Pin 54 of the ecu goes to connector a180. From there it goes to the blue 32 pin plug on the cluster, and connects to pin 3 which is white and blue. Verify continuity between these two pins (ECU pin 54, Blue plug pin 3) to ensure the ecu receives the proper VSS signal!

so only the 00 ART ECU has VSS at PIN 54, my 01 AWN harness has an open pin at 54, i added a pin there and wired it from the output of the cluster and still no vss
