Clicking Noise from Brake Pedal

My 2016 S5 makes a single click noise halfway through the brake pedal's travel. Seems like it's coming from under the lower dash. Happens every time I brake as long as I depress the pedal at least halfway. Dealer's mechanic says it's the brake light switch and that it's normal. I'm skeptical. The brake lights come on before the click. Anyone else experience this? Definitely a first world problem, but I'm curious. Thanks guys.

I hear the clicking on our Q7 but not in my RS5. on the Q7 it coincides with the break light coming on.

Do you have a DSG? Maybe it's the shift interlock solenoid...?
