That car will have a bunch of underlying issues that will only be resolved by tearing the entire front end apart and replacing a lot of it. Additionally, I'm not sure I would trust that engine without it being thoroughly inspected.

The link doesn't have any pics! How bad is the front end damage? A guy in Dallas paid $4k for a B7 with front end damage from an insurance auction. It had front right damage but the airbags didn't go off. Here is the car he bought although it has higher miles than the one you're looking at:

The nice thing is that when you're repairing it it's already half way to the service position. I personally would try to low ball due to the front end damage. Maybe $1000 tops. That way if it turns out having problems at least you'll be able to get the money back you spent on parts when you sell it. It does have low mileage and runs, I would see f they'll start it up and you should be able to hear any abnormalities.

Even if it was in running condition, I would have $5-7k put away for an eventual engine swap. There are better cars out there.

Given the nature of these cars and their reliability.... I'd spend the extra dough upfront for a clean / well cared for example that has lots of documentation. Prices can really vary if the previous owner had timing service or head work done. I'd guesstamate a car worthy of wanting would be in the 13-20k area. If your planning on modding it you might want to find an enthusiasts car as after market parts can really add up as well.

from looking at the picture, it seems like the impact was up high, like a barrier or something like that , I doubt that the front end got bent/crooked from that impact

but you never know until you strip it down and measure the frame/ subframe mounts locations.

I'd buy it real cheap to part it out, make a bit of money
if you have the time and space( and tools of course)
