Trying to test my A/C condenser fan, which wires to splice into?

I tried shorting the fan to the battery, following the wires up from the passenger side condenser fan. It appear they're the two wires that connect to the FCM on top, pictured here. The exposed wires are the ones I spliced into.

However, when I did this, the main cooling fan (driver's side) turned on to my surprise. These wires follow directly down to the condenser fan motor, so my guess is the power is going back through the FCM and powering the main fan. Am I safe to assume I can cut these wires to test the passenger fan isolated, without any negative affects on the main fan? I need this car to drive to work tomorrow, but also don't want to go too much longer without A/C. I tested these same two wires with A/C system running, and got 8.5V at first, and then 7.4V about 10 mins later.

Trying to test my A/C condenser fan, which wires to splice into?

Bump, anyone who's done this confirm I can cut these wires without screwing up my main fan?

I don't know the answer. But I certainly wouldn't cut any wires. I would think you could pull the plug, follow two wires to the fan you want to test and put 12V on those two pins.

Jump the orange for one fan and the yellow for the other fan.

You won't ruin the fans by cutting those wires, just sucks to have to put them back together.

Thats what in worried about. I don’t want to have to solder them back together with that little clearance just so I can drive to work. So those two wires are for both fans? Are the fans grounded to the chassis then? I figured each fan has two leads.

This is exactly what I’m trying to do, but that plug does not disconnect from the FCM. Ill check out the link in your other post and see if it matches up with my harness connector. Thank you!

Yes you only need to jump the hot wires. With the FCM plugged in the other wires are grounded. The 4 wires are 2 hits and 2 grounds

Thank you, ill do some more probing around on Thursday and see if I can rule out the fcm.
