Need help from a fellow 2014 RS5 owner in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, or Dallas

    Hello,

Hoping a fellow RS5 owner in one of the above cities could help me out as I am deadlocked with State Farm insurance in a diminished value claim. Looking for someone specifically with a 2014 RS5 with less than 20k miles, who has a pristine Carfax report as a single owner with no recorded accidents, to accompany me to CarMax to have an appraisal done. To make this as close to apples to apples prefer someone with 20" rims, driver assistance and navigation package. My intent is to provide the estimate of your pristine vehicle compared to my 1-accident vehicle to further substantiate my diminished value claim with State Farm insurance. CarMax appraisal takes 30-minutes or less. I would prefer someone in Austin or someone willing to drive to Austin (road trip?) so I can obtain a appraisal in my local market. But also willing to drive to you as well. Willing to compensate you for your time if needed.

To make a long story short I have provided copious amounts of evidence to State Farm, including industry recognized property appraisals showing diminished value, and they are still offering me pennies on the dollar despite their insured driver being at fault. Speaking with my local Audi dealership they agree a 10-15% diminished value from a trade-in perspective for 1-accident vehicle, but they are not authorized to put this in writing or speak directly with State Farm insurance. I believe the CarMax appraisal will help me avoid the lengthy and inconvenient process of suing the driver in small claims court and potentially needing to hire a lawyer to combat State Farm's legal team.

Appreciate you taking the time to read my plea for assistance! Please send me a PM if you can help.

    Regards,

    James M

Try Audi Club Lone Star. There may be someone local in Austin to help you there.

I cannot physically help you as I live in NM and only have an S but I have experience with these types of things working for a body shop and I am familiar with most insurance policy processes. If I were in your shoes I would go to carmax with my RS and get their written quote. Compare that with things like NADA trade and KBB. Look on Autotrader also to get quotes that specifically say clean car fax etc. A dealer quote on your car is not going to be all that valuable as any person looking to buy the car is going to start incredibly low anyways and that would never be the final #'s if a deal was worked out for you to trade yours in etc.. There are websites that will make you a dim value report also but they do it for a fee. Your diminished value is also effected by the severity of the damage done. I have a friend and his wife, both were hit in separate vehicles here fairly recently. 1st was a 15 Subaru Outback limited. Damage done to that car was roughly $13000 after repairs were done and air bags did deploy. They wound up settling dim value for roughly 3.5k. Car new was $31k. Second car as a 14 Civic SI with about 9k in damage but no frame damage and no air bags. He wound up with $1900 on the dim value and his car is worth roughly 18k. This is out of New Mexico and every state is a little different with how they handle it.
