    ABS problem B5 VR6 turbo

So I have finally gotten a chance to take the A4 out of the garage for the first time now that its on standalone with the VR6, 2 times I've driven it now and the first everything seemed great until the Brake light came on mid trip. I knew it was an ABS problem so I pulled the front sensors and they look grooved as if they're touching the sensor rings. They are the factory B5 sensors, this car is a 98 with push in style sensors, and as far I can tell the S4 axles I'm using should be completely compatible, this was a 2.8 V6 car, already has the larger front axles. Unfortunately I have no way of scanning this car at the moment, I was never too concerned about being able to scan this car because the factory ECU is long gone. I did leave the battery disconnected before the second trip would should have cleared any issue with the ABS on the first. For the second trip, the issue was Brake light was off, but I couldn't get the car out of second gear, you could tell it was forcing the brakes on. So I unplugged the module in the bay, and was then able to at least drive the car. I'm just wondering where to start, Vagcom is a tough option for me at this point, as well as spending money to fix the ABS. So deleting the ABS is also an option right now, I'm not sure the aggravation to get it working is worth its benefit, also not sure how tough it'd be to delete, tees and proportioning valves would be necessary. For all I know at this point maybe the ABS doesn't know what to do because the ECU is gone, or maybe the ABS sensors are shot/not the right ones.... too many variables at this point.

Hi there just seen this on searching info. How did you go find the issue?

Probably counting too many or too few pulses due to the pulse wheel on the axle having a different amount of triggers. I bet when the abs module does the math it's constantly dividing by the wrong number and the abs module is 'seeing' constant wheel spin or partial lock up. I have had no factory ecu and abs at the same time without issue on a b5. I would try not to delete the abs. Did you ever resolve the issue?
