Sunroof shade - won't stay closed

Hi all: Is anyone else experiencing their sunroof shade constantly sliding open a couple inches in just normal driving conditions? Mine always slides open about 2". I would think it would securely shut, requiring you to actually open it for it to open. Anyone else? Love the car BTW.

Yeah this happens to me as well. I don't usually notice it but it's annoying when I do.

Haven't had this happen on my 2015 S3. I've had it for a little over a year. Are you guys maybe driving on very bumpy/bad roads? I'd complain to the dealer, shouldn't do that.

Nope, just on normal roads. I'm going to the dealer tommorow for scheduled maintenance so i'll mention it to them and see what they say.

The dealer confirmed the issue and swapped the shade buffers but that did not solve the issue. Now they have ordered a new sunshade bow spring as they suspect that it isn't providing enough strength. It will be a week before I can get it installed since I needed to travel. I'd definitely go to the dealer and have them check it out.

Happy to report back that this issue is resolved. The dealer replaced the following under warranty:

8X0-898-814 Rubber
8X0-877-307-D-5L9 Sunshade
8V3-877-355-B Bow

It's annoying and I think I should bring mine in too....also the actual sunshade I feel has lost its elasticity so another reason to bring it in.

mine did that. car was in for an oil change, they gave me an a3 loaner. the a3 loaners sunshade was super stiff and did not budge at all while driving, so i knew that it was not supposed to just open while driving. i could have taken it on the baja 5000 and it wouldnt have opened. dealer will fix it if you let them know.

Mine was replaced, and about 2 weeks later its opening up again to the same amount it was previously

Too bad they didn't build in a little notched section in the aluminum area and a knub on the roof liner for the shade to snap or catch onto.

Same thing in my S3, but I considered it a minor annoyance.

Be glad you don't have an a4. You can't open the sunroof without opening the sunshade.

Glad to hear yours is resolved.
I just got back from the dealer and they said they never heard anything like this and that I should keep driving the car and hopefully a TSB comes out. I am absolutely furious!
