Are brake pad wear sensors one size fits all?

My sensor wire actually snapped and now my sensors are going off (obviously). I see some replacement wires that fit the b8 a4 for like $6-12 on ECS but they aren't made by the same brand as my brake pads (Hawk). Anyone ever have this problem and done this?

Saw some thread where a guy hard-disabled the sensor by doing a whole bunch of crap in the fuse box. That looked like 10 times more work than just replacing the wire, if it's possible.
