I dipped my A4 last year, went with Volcano Red and my post about it can be seen here

It took almost 2 days, with cleaning and prep. Taping off everything and learning how to make edges cleaner, and not having overspray was something I learned after I finished doing it myself. If you are having a shop do it professionally, I would ask to see if they have any cars you can look at, and examine the trim and other areas (between the doors) to see if there are tears or overspray. Their price seems really really high honestly, and I would ask for a breakdown on their costs. If their material cost is more than $5-600 I would look into buying the material yourself from dipyourcar.com
I had a blast doing it myself, learned a lot, and it would still be on my car today except I sold it and the buyer wanted it back to black. Took about 1.5 hours to get it all peeled off and cleaned, and could not be happier with the results. There are a lot of people who hate on it but if that is the route you want to go, I say go for it!
