    S6 center console removal tips

Is there an easy way to remove the center console trim? I have taken out all the other wood grain trim but I am down to the center console and ash tray lid. It does not appear to be an easy removal. Any input would be appreciated!
    Thanks!

No easy way. Have to remove the console to get to the eight bolts underneath holding it on...

The problem I am having is trying to get the back end of the armrest area. I can't seem to locate the bolts holding it done. I looked behind the climate controls in the back but I can see anything. I'm pretty sure the whole center console has to come up to be able to flip it over and unscrew the trim. I had to take a break from it. It's driving me nuts!

You have to pull out the rear vents to access the bolts holding down the arm rest. I did find a write up semi recently with a link to the VAG instructions but can't seem to find it again. I printed it the first time because it was difficult to find.
Do it right, or don't bother.

You pop the shift surround first, then remove the ash try. then you can pull the MMI up (snapped in). Then you can access these bolts without pulling the entire console like in the C6.

In order to remove the ashtray, you will also need to pull out the climate controle unit otherwise you won't be able to lift up the ashtray enough to slide it out.
Climate controle gets pulled out from left and right with thin metal/hard plastic tool.
