I'm possibly trading two of my mk1 TTs for an S4 4.2 v8, the chains and guides were replaced 10k ago due to misfires on 4 cylinders. My question is is there any possibility there was valve damage due to the misfires? My second question is what else could go wrong that would mean an engine pull since he only replaced the guides and chains and not the full kit.

I was thinking of doing a compression test when I go to see it next week, that would show if there was any engine damage like valves not seating properly from piston contact correct?

I also have vag com so was wondering what measuring blocks should I be checking for chain stretch and if there are any different measuring blocks I can check to see if the chains/timing etc are in good shape.

Also is there anything else I should be looking out for?

    Many thanks in advance

"...two of my mk1 TTs" <---- Sounds like a serious habit.

Haha I meant my two mk1 TTs. I don't own anymore than that. Cylinder head had cracked on the 225 so I bought a v6 to tide me over. Fixing the 225 this weekend. Then possibly trading them both next weekend.
