I've been trying to go that route, but it is very expensive. Very little support / distribution here in the states. In Germany it may make sense since you will probably be able to take advantage of their warranty and better customer service. Last time I checked they wanted around $4,000.00 for their piggy back unit.

Mtm charges 8200 euro for the kit including the 19 sales tax here lucky for me I don't pay that tax (yay SOFA) so my price is 6642 euro or 7400usd but that's tune and full turbo back exhaust and labor plus the warranty

How was the install on it, did you do it yourself? Does it need power? Do you take it off when servicing the car? I wanted to get it for the last few months but can't get clear information on it...

Install took 20 min but no idea of what was needed.
I believe it was plug and play!
But the best part is that it's TD1 risk free!
The dealer has done 3 times real to nominal comparison and it was ok!

Who did the install, you or the shop? The only reason I am asking is because the S4 install back in the day required access to power and some body panel removals upfront. Was this the case with your ride?

Do you remove the unit when you take the car in?

Not sure about the power because the shop did the install, but I remember the panel under the hood was removed.
    Never removed it for services!

The better question to ask here is why did MTM leave the US market

They're around in Florida. I'm still on the fence about spending $4,000 on a tune box.

I have come to conclusion that I can't trust any dyno numbers provided by vendors - not singling anyone out. So it is hard to tell how much you're actually getting for the money.

Seem like there are two choices: It's either blow the warranty with ECU flash and keep the fingers crossed that nothing goes wrong for around $1,500 or get a box and hope that it actually works for $4,000. But at $4,000 my rational self tells me that I'm being ripped off... Perhaps the only alternative is to do what I heard works the best - which is to buy a car that is fast from the factory. S6/S7 not enough? Then get an RS7. In my case it would be moving up to an S8.

Then you will just want to tune the S8. MTM has always been pricey, but historically, their products have been top notch.

Same ABT, expensive and experienced company, only abt has no downpipes options, only tune that gives you let's say on Rs6 from 560 to 666 and then tune+ catback = going from 560 to 700-730 hp if you add downpipes u can be near 750 hp

Why abt and mtm so expensive? Apr is so cheap you can get ecu remap for 1000 eur and have 680 hp plus 900 torque
