How happy are you with music system in RS7, A7, S7 ??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello,

If you could change or totally happy? B&O ? add extra?

    Would you?

Been a long time since the car has been out-so just learning first hand experience. Any big differences between B&O and regular?

    TIA

    Biggest difference is price!

There is no way I can justify spending almost $10,000 on a car audio solution (UK List price option )

I have Bose, works fine for me and I listen to all music types, but Im definitely not an audiophile....

So very happy it's less than half that price here before I began negotiating.

S6, very happy I got the b&o audio. I listened to the Bose and was quite let down. It's not a ten thousand dollar difference, but it's definitely a four thousand dollar difference for me

Absolutely. So, got a new sub that fits right into the stock Bose box and a small class D amp that fits right in front of the Bose amp so you won't see anything, (looks completely stock). Also got an output line converter. This ads great base to the car without it being too much but also once you relieve the other speakers of bass they actually sound pretty good. If you lift up your trunk mat thingy and look at the Bose sub will on you'll see the thing is barely moving and extremely underpowered. I can't wait to do it and I will try to detail everything so anyone could do it themselves.

I'm not the audiophil aswell, but i with the bose have more bass too. However, list price BO option seems to be overpriced for me, and if i'll want to add some bass, i'll do something like this:

not so expensive, can be done in 700-800$

the bass was definitely lacking on the bose setup, but what really irked me was the absolutely awful mid in the car I drove.

The Bose setup in my car sounds about as good as the B&O setup that was in my B8 S4, meaning "sounds good to me".

I'm a "reformed" audiophile, in that I long ago gave up chasing perfect sound - the $$$$ just doesn't justify the final result, IMO. YMMV.

When adjusted properly for my taste (treble at max because Bose, bass at one click above "center"), it sounds good enough to elicit very positive comments from passengers. Sure, tighter bass would be preferable, but I wouldn't spend more than a couple hundred dollars to achieve that, and I don't want anything that doesn't look stock. I'll be interested to read how the $350 mod works out...

Another mod I plan on doing in my spare time new subwoofer and amplifier, have all the parts, just need time.

I wouldn't mind an upgrade, but don't want to have anything additional in the trunk. Looking to do something that can be contained in the factory locations, or hidden near the bose amp.

Bose is great but not quite the level of my 6 year old BMW with dual subwoofers. B&O is amazing on the highs but overpriced and horrible on the lows.

I recently did a system in my '13 S7 to replace the Bose system. 16 Bose speakers in the car, and not musical. They should have used less drivers of better quality. I ended up putting three of the Audison Prima amplifiers in the driver's rear quarter panel where the Bose amplifier used to reside. They have a stacking kit, which saves having to build bracketing. I put the power distribution and Bit DMI Most bus interface below the amps. Below you will see the mounts for the mids in the doors and tweeters in the dash, as well as the 10" woofer built into the floor. Had to move the compressor over about 4 inches and the battery about 2 to squeeze out the extra space for the enclosure.

B&O is night and day better with music at quieter volumes. If you want loud volume the B&Os are good enough to make you hate Sirius XM at the least. Aftermarket is possibly hard to do right because of the noise cancellation that is in place due to Cylinder on Demand in the 4.0TT engine.

So the results are in! Sounds awesome!!!!! I will update everyone tomorrow but in the end it was a little more involved then I thought and there would have been no way I would have been able to do this myself. However I do think it is still a very inexpensive mod to do for what you get as a final result, even if you just pay a stereo shop $150 bucks to do the install for you. Night and day difference!!!! I have clean bass now!
