    Intake question

I wanted to buy the Eurocode Trufit Intake as it is one the quietest intake but it seems they are not selling it anymore. I like the light supercharger whine. Is there another intake similar as the Trufit? APR, ECS, RocEuro, USP make to much whine for my taste. Is the silicon throttle body Inlet Hose from 034 and a cylindrical performance filter will be the same as the Trufit intake? Feedback please

I have an ECS. Fit and finish is great. SC whine is noticeable but tamable.

I'm actually thinking of making a switch to the apr stage 1 though.

It is a little easier to swap it out for dealer visits.

Loe is running the setup you're suggesting and he said it was real quiet with minimal whine. I'm running the 034 silicone intake tube, open with an inverted cone filter on it and it screams...so you could go either direction with the intake tube.

AWE S-Flo is almost identical to the Trufit. Silicon tube and high flow filter. That's what I got when I couldn't get the Trufit.

Anyone know how the sounds of the AWE S-FLo (not carbon) is compared to the ECS full carbon intake? The ECS is quieter than any of the open element systems I have heard, but wondering where S-Flo fits in there. I like the idea of getting rid of the OEM baffles in the tubing and putting a less restrictive filter on to get solid performance with an OEM look.

Also, performance wise, all of these are relatively similar and most notable when paired with a tune I would imagine.

I have the s-flo. The s-flo is very very quiet compare to any open intakes. You are only able to hear a noticeable sc whine when you go >75% throttle and above 4000rpm. Even so, the whine is not loud at all.

+1. Don't expect whine from the AWE S-Flo. I went with it as I mainly just wanted a smoother airflow and a higher flow filter. Maybe I'd hear more whine if I removed the snow screen...? But I'd rather hear my exhaust anyway.

Here you can hear the S-flo intake. It is one of the quietest intakes for the 3.0 engine. You'll get a subtle sc whine on >50% throttle.

if the whine is a problem why don't you just get a K&N drop in on your stock air box?

Here's a clip of 034 Motorsport intake hose, K&N filter, stock box with the snow screen and the internal air deflector removed. This is not a hard pull, and it's a bit windy, but you'll get the idea.
From inside the car, it's barely louder than stock. You can hear it if you know what to listen for, and if you've pulled the Soundaktor fuse.

I have the AWE S-Flo and I have also removed my snow screen. The resulting S/C whine is subtle and just right for me. The other thing I like about it is when it's time to go to the dealer, it takes all of 5 minutes to remove the AWE intake tube and replace with the stock tube so everything looks OEM. Overall very happy with the result including better low RPM throttle response.

034 Hose or AWE Hose and an AFE filter and you're good to go. If you ask real nice and under the radar, it's possible to get just the hose part from AWE. ;)

Despite what the Amazon part fit check tells you, this does fit the S4 and without any mods. I have no idea why their dinky part checker says it doesn't fit. https://www.amazon.com/aFe-11-10121-...=AFE+S4+intake

I'd spend ten more minutes to swap the filter in case for some reason they replace it.

thanks,,i actually have the full carbon ECS intake, and for under hood bling it is great! And compared to others it is quiet, but I still prefer the exhaust sound to the intake....I don't want go back to stock necessarily, given if (when) I go stage 1 or stage 2, it makes sense to have the intake.

I'm debating on swapping my ECS for the S-Flo basically for this exact reason. I do really like the ECS intake though. Sounds great and looks amazing. Though the hood is rarely open lol. Also, I can bring my car to the dealer with the intake installed, but would prefer not to. And the AWE is much easier to change than the full ECS.

If you want a swap you can pm me because I am thinking to swap mine for an ECS Carbon one. Of course, I'll pay you extra for compensate.

Loe, what's the difference between going with your intake set up vs. the AWE S-Flo? Basically pretty much the same with the 034 silicone pipe and the Afe filter right?

The aFe filter is an inverted design, but yes they are pretty much the same functionality wise if you pick up the standard S-Flo and not the Carbon version. The AWE has mounting brackets, a nice touch IMHO.

on a side note, for those like my who want to keep the stock airbox, I recently resolved my collapsing accordion section by drilling 3 quarter inch holes and installing plastic tab in them that expand when you insert the screw in them, so it secures the accordion section to the front scoop in place under boost. A nice $3.00 mod for me, and an alternative until I want to spring for the carbon S-flow that replaces the airbox lid/accordion section.

Cool thanks for the info. On a stock tune for now, so not super worried about and collapsing yet :)

I was thinking about standard S-Flo. Just sold my ECS carbon. want a quieter intake and less $$ invested in a part I never see.

I have a giac tune and installed a awe s-flo intake (not carbon ) just the silicone tube and filter. I am very sensitive with sounds and cannot hear any whine at all. Later installed an awe touring exhaust.. best investment I have ever made - the sound is simply intoxicating.

Yea, I didn't love the whine with the ECS, which was also far quieter than other open element intakes I have heard. The S-Flo is probably exactly what I'm looking for. Love the AWE exhaust and it sounds better without the whine getting in the way :)

I guess I don't understand why people who don't like supercharger noises even bother with an intake? I mean, isn't that the whole point?

Fair point, although ive read that it is highly recommended to have an intake for max gains once you get tuned. for me on a stock car its kind of worthless I would imagine.

For me, an intake was a must. I had never driven a supercharged car before, and had been driving a tuned turbo for many years. This engine was so quiet in stock form that I couldn't really understand what was going on under the hood. Installed the intake first week so I could hear it and understand it. It's like seeing a boost gauge for the first time and understanding how everything you are feeling falls into place.

So I installed the AWE so flo intake. Very quiet which was what I wanted. Wanted LOL. If I want a bit more whine, if I change the silicon tube to a carbon tube (APR or ECS) and keep the stock airbox, will the whine increase?

Not by much if any at all if you are using the full stock air box.

One thing that I have noticed is that the 034Motorsports intake tube produces more s/c whine than the AWE intake tube. The 034Motorsports is more flexible and the material doesn't feel as thick, however the tube is bigger than the AWE intake tube aside from the ends where the 034Motorsports tapers inwards because the hose is bigger in the center area and the AWE tapers outwards because the hose is smaller . I didn't take a picture (I should), but I picked up an AWE S-flow intake system (carbon fiber airbox one) from a FL member today and installed it. I may end up selling it and keeping the stock airbox w/ my reinforcement mod, not sure yet, or just sell the AWE intake tube + air filter (the basic "S-FLO") and install the aFe filter + 034Motosports intake tube on the AWE carbon fiber airbox lid/air scoop.

Just installed the basic S-Flo. Exactly what I was looking for. Very quiet and no loss loss of throttle response you get when u get rid of the stock box. very OEM+ type of a mod.
