My 07 audi s4 needs a new engine, and I have a few questions

Hey guys, so I'm 19 years old and I decided to do a stupid decision and impulse buy a audi s4. Only really I really did that was because it had its timing chain done 20k miles ago. I got it home and I found out it has scored cylinders. I put in about 2 quarts of oil every 2 days. The past month and a half, every pay check I've gotten has gone straight to my car. It's depressing.

I thought I'd just sell it, and I got offered 10k for it. But me being a christian and a decent human being I could come to terms with selling it to someone with 2 kids and having the thought that it could blow up on him at any moment.

I've come to the conclusion that I'm gonna have to get a new engine for it. I'm trying to look around for a full engine, but I can't find anything. I looked at eurospec and was looking at a short block and was wondering if I can't find a full engine, can I just buy a short block and transfer everything from my old engine to the short block?

I'm just destroyed, and financially fucked.

    Thanks guy

I don't believe it can "blow up" at any moment , it just had its timing done lol

if we assume that the cylinders can't be fixed (I know they can be , but for lots of money)

    I'd sell,
just be honest with the buyer, tell him that it burns alot of oil.

Another +1, should have taken the $10k offer (this assuming you disclosed oil burning)

What kind of oil would you suggest? I'm using 0w40 atm.

But I had a compression test done and a tear town to find where my oil is going. 3 of the 8 cylinders failed compression, one is as low as 55. Shop said that's where my oil is going to,and hence why no visible leak.

You can go up a weight to 5-40.

    You could part it out.

Or you could try that alusil honing the porsche guys seem to be having some success with. A bit controversial around here but a potentially cheaper and influential fix.

I would try mobil 1 15w50 if the weather at your location is 30 degrees or up. Get it at walmart its like $22 for 5 qt. If you feeling like a baller try liqui moly 10w60. There are also many oil additives you can try. Liqui moly ceratec, Restore 8 cylinder additive and so on.. At this point I would try anything related to oil. I mean its cheaper than replacing your engine am I right?

Sorry you had to go through this, Cygnets. May I ask how much you paid for it? Is there any way you could sell it back to the original seller under the pretense that they didn't disclose the condition of the engine?

See what Carmax will give you for it. It's better than dumping thousands on an engine that might end up in the same condition as your current in the future.
