My B8 Audi A4 has been having some major issues lately. The CEL has come on and my car is shaking nonstop. I have replaced the spark plugs and ignition coils but when I start my car the shaking will not stop. I pulled out the PCV and noticed oil was leaking. Pictures below. Please help!

You need to get it scanned to see what codes are popping up.

To post pics you need to upload your pics to an image hosting site like Photobucket or something then copy and past the url form that site and paste in your thread.

Upload them to a site like imgur or photobucket and then link them here using the picture icon in the comment box.

What did you pull for codes?

Having the code would help a lot. First thing I would do that doesn't cost anything is to remove the PCV hose from the intake manifold. Cover the intake manifold with your hand (or take a ziplock and cover it secured with rubberbands/tape /whatever). This will isolate the PCV system from the intake and remove it being a source of massive air leak. Have the oil fill cap removed or backed off and just sitting there to allow the crankcase to still vent.
Having the codes would help more? Maybe unless its just 300 for random misfire.

Hey guys, I currently do not have a scanner. Would it be necessary to buy one?

    Where's the oil leak?

Edit: you can get free scans at your nearest autozone, advance auto, etc. or buy a $20 bluetooth adapter and download a scantool app for your phone to use with it.

It's leaking into where the bolts are located. And the corner above the bolts seemed to be completely burned from the inside

There's supposed to be oil there. That's the inside of your engine.

That's good to hear! My first time looking under there and something seemed off about it.

Audi actually doesn't call it a PCV (most of us do as that is what that part has been called for decades). They call it an oil separator. The area you have zoomed I believe to be an oil return passage. Now if the part you removed has a faulty diaphragm or check valve then you could have some issues.

Ah! That makes sense. What could be causing that area to turn the colour that it has?

With this all being done, do I then start the vehicle and if I do, what is it I'm looking for while this happens? Sorry I'm completely new at all this. Just trying to figure it all out..

If you are just going to use your hand then you can disconnect it with it running. If you chose to bag it then have it shut off, bag it and then start it. If covering that port makes the car return to a smooth idle then something in the PCV system is allowing too much air in.
I don't recommend test driving it this way as the bag will blow off once you are in boost.
A bluetooth(andrid)/wifi(apple) obd scanners are worth their weight in gold. The amount of live sensor data it can access can be very valuable tools. Best part is since its OBD is a standard it will likely work on most cars from about 1983ish and newer. Its more important to own than a sparkplug socket.

I just finished doing the test with a bag over the port and it seems the exact same as before I took the PCV hose off. Not idling any smoother, the engine sounds fine but once I get into the car I can feel the whole thing shaking

Eliminates the PCV as a possible cause. You are really going to need codes pulled. White smoke by chance or really heavy fuel smell in the exhaust. When injectors fail they often stick open and spray more fuel than needed. Usually doesn't generate any extra codes except the misfire codes. When you had the spark plugs out were they light tan/brown or were any black or wet.

I have ordered a OBD scanner online, should be arriving shortly. In the meantime, I will drive over to an auto pro shop and get them to run the codes so I can link them back to you. The spark plugs came out black and they were covered in oil

Yes white smoke coming out of exhaust, even with the slightest bit of acceleration. My fuel injectors are still covered under my warranty. Would it be something I should take a look at fixing?

What year is this car? How's your oil level? These are pretty typical symptoms of the oil consumption issues on the 2009-2011 MY. Or you may need a carbon cleaning......
