    APR Stage 2 question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
How do you know for sure that the stage 2 map is installed?

This info looks as though Stage 2 is installed, but the APR mobile app looks like I'm still on Stage 1....

Are you concerned that they didn't install the stage 2 software? Can you feel a difference or not so much?

I can hear a difference but I can't really feel much of a difference. Car is noticeably louder....way louder.

Uninstall your APR app, then reinstall it. Problem solved.

I wonder if it's possible to see the flash in VCDS or the ECU Serial....

I'm sure it will start feeling better. Is it too loud for your taste?

This design gets rid of 2 front mufflers and replaces them with high flow cats. It's very loud on cold starts and noticeably loud in comfort or dynamic around town. Exhaust note in the car is very audible with lots of crackles.

Also you can now hear downshifts bark without using the paddle shifters.

I think that if there were mufflers in front of the cats, the sound would be improved and more civil. Doesn't sound bad but I think it could be toned down a bit so it doesn't sound like a muscle car....

Drove it around more and there may be more power....hard to tell when the focus is on the sound.

I was really hoping that it would be a chalk and cheese difference between stage1 and 2
I am looking at going stage 2 very soon too.
Have you tried launching the car ? Any ideas if your car goes into AMAX ? i.e. not pulling -13.5 degrees timing on gear change ?

    Thanks

Filmed a video of the cold start. Wasn't bad actually. When I first got the install done I was surprised with how loud it was. Just didn't want it to be like my old c63 with headers. That thing woke the dead.

Ill upload the cold start video soon.

Subscribed, I wanna see that. I deleted my resonator so I'm guessing this would be too much!!!!!!!

Yea I wouldn't think about deleting a resonator on this.

Look at the akra setup - it uses the same number of mufflers/resonators as factory.

Something I learned from my C63 days - with headers and high flows, the car was insanely loud. The OEM mufflers were basically large megaphones. When I changed out the mufflers for supersprint mufflers, car was a lot more civil and driveable.

I think these car companies design mufflers on sports cars to increase the sound that is otherwise muffled by massive cats/emissions requirements. I wonder how much better this car would sound with an cat back designed for the apr Downpipes system. APr should make an exhaust that connects to this that replaces the factory mid muffler and rears....or Akra should sell a setup that is designed to work with APR. Best of both worlds IMO.

I think the AWE touring exhaust would make it more civil. Though, I'm not sure if they have it for the RS7s. Does the S7 exhaust interchange with RS7s?

They don't make it for the RS7.

Here's the cold start video. The sound cut out for a split second for some reason.

Man, that sounds good to me! I know these down pipes have high flow cats but have you noticed any additional smell from the car?

Yea I've adjusted to it. I like it now. It's not discreet in anyway when you step on it though. Everyone knows you have an exhaust and everyone knows you're coming.

Haven't noticed any additional smell other than the first few times starting it in my garage. Seems like these aftermarket cats need to kinda break in a bit. Now my garage actually smells cleaner than it did before. I thin these gesi cats perform better than stock. Or maybe it's just because they are so new....

i can't really tell if it's faster. i guess at some point you have so much hp that the differences are hard to tell. it's extremely fast though. i thought that before the downpipes. now i hear it more with them so it reminds me, along with everyone around me, that i'm going really fast or accelerating really fast. from stop light to stop light, it feels like i'm catching air and teleporting there.

i need to hear someone else drive it to get a better idea of what i sound like when i drive around town. inside the car, it's noticeably louder. the loudest sounds you hear on stock pipes, take those sounds and direct them straight into the cabin.....that's the best way for me to describe it. I thought the front resonators being missing might create some drone..... nope. The entire exhaust sound is the loudness exciting the tailpipes. sounds more like an exotic supercar now.
