Question How to clean dirt/rust contaminant from stainless steel exhaust pipes?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Is there a product that works?
I have not found any discussion about this as most people are looking to clean and polish their exhaust tips. I would like to remove rust/dirt contaminants from the actual pipes under the car and restore the SS pipe look or get close to it. Is that even possible?
I have found the Borla Exhaust Cleaner and Eagle One Nevr-Dull, but I'm not sure those would work.

Is it OK to use one of those iron decontamination washes? Will that remove rust and not damage the SS under it?

    Thanks!

Some good Ole elbow grease with 0000 steel wool and follow up with a polish product from pinnacle or p21s. I got a small tube of Simi chrome that stuff works real good.but any good polish after the steel wool should do the trick.i have even done 3000 grit but that exhaust was really bad.

Flitz polish. A large tube will last a long time.

I've had luck with both never dull and buffing compound to clear off exhaust particles and tiny rust spots

    Thanks for the tips.
My plan is to try some oven cleaner for the rough stuff and then try one of the SS cleaners to buff it clean.

Use bar keepers friend. You buy it at the grocery store for around 2 bucks. Works awesome and does not scratch

Not sure if it will remove rust but I use Meguiar's All Metal Polish. Rub it in with a sponge applicator then wipe clean with a microfiber towel.

Do the same suggestions above apply to stock exhaust tips? Mine have been neglected by the previous owner
