Pics of 21" wheels on Stock Sport Suspension

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi Guys . BMW lifer here checking out the "other side"for the first time . It came down to the panamera or the a7 , and as much as I loved the way the panamera drove I couldn't get past the looks and the outdated tech. Add to that the redesign knocking at the door , I didn't want to get stuck with the ugly girl at the dance.

I picked up a 2012 a7 with the sport pack and i'm wondering how 21" wheels look on the stock sport suspension. Please post pics or links if you have them thanks.

Hmmm I don't have a picture for you, but its always been suspension before wheels for me. Otherwise you get that ridiculous amount of wheel gap, especially going from 19-21s.

I've got the 20"s on there. The gap doesn't look that bad with the sport suspension, which is what what raised my curiosity.. What's the popular choice for lowering with these cars.?

How does the stock s7 suspension compare to the A7 sport. Do they have the same options? Or is s7 sport only or adjustsble?

I was going to go with the H&R but the guy really rec the ST coils he stated he's never had s problem with them even with I climate weather and can adjust them anytime. The HR have very small threads and can get corroded and have a very diff time adjusting them. So for the price I went with them. He has used them on his own cars. He's the shop owner so he could of up sold me if he truly wanted to. Really good guy.

Does the model you are getting have independent ride height vs spring rate? If not I would be wary of coils where the spring rate is affected by ride height (this really matters if you you plan to go really low). Independent models give you that much more flexibility with less trade off.

Yea the wheels I know. Curious what tire size and suspension he is running. I m also seeing using a config app for these wheels that they wont allow you to select 21x10.5 for an a7 but it will for the s7. What gives? Can i not run 21x10.5 et33 on the a7?

Yes you can and it will be extremely flush.

I have a set of 21x9.5 et35 Forgelines with 265/30/21 Michelin PSS if you like them. You'd need a small spacer to be as flush as I think you're trying to get. I also have a 20x10 BLK wheel that is et32 that is perfect A7/S7 fitment.

This is a shot of them with the wrong tire size for the A7 and on stock ride height.

On the car with H&R lowering module which I have dialed up a bit, it can go down a full inch further putting the car right on top of the tires.

Thanks. Really want to go with a 10.5. Looking for as wide as I can go while hoping to avoid spacers, and promising not to touch the fenders on this car.

I'm running 275/30/21 hankook tires my wheels are et 32 should be fine.

@madys not sure good question but I'm not planning on slamming it just remove the wheel gap. It's my DD and I have kids so it's just for aesthetics.

You could always swap the front lips out to a 1" wider hoop and have a 10.5" final size with the exact fitment you need, no need for any spacers. It would cost $300/400 to do that.

Didnt realize those were modular. Would rather avoid that though.. trying to ball on a budget :) . Especially since this was a car that I "promised to keep stock" - lasted a whole 2 weeks :(

Yes these are a 3 piece Ultralight forged construction wheel, only 25lbs each which is quite remarkable for a multi piece 21" setup. Everyone wants to keep costs down but you really do get what you pay for.

What kind of ball on a budget are you talking about? Shoot me a PM or text to (309)370-2657

What's the ride like on 21ers? I have factory 20" now, and the ride isn't bad. A little noisy, but I suspect that's tire related not aspect ratio. (Man, I hate Pirelli)

21's are not much different but I will say the hankook's are def noisier than my continentals but aesthetics are well worth the noise!!!

Yeah, I'd rather overpay for tires that don't sing than deal with that. Everyone has their hang ups, I just can't stand roaring tires.

Thats no bueno. If i make the jump to 21 I was going hankook because of a smoking deal , but I already thought the contis where noisy on anything but slick pavement.

It's not terrible trust me. I super picky about everything.... Arnel (tireguy) can confirm. It's really not bad. Hankook's are very well priced you can certainly go a different brand but you will def pay way more. 21" wheels is a must. I'm telling you .... You WILL have buyers remorse if you go 20's

The Michelin PSS in 265 or 275/30/21 is the way to go for sure. They're a very limited run size by Michelin so they are never available. The Conti 5P Noise canceling is a close second to the PSS. I had the Hankooks on for a couple weeks and couldn't take it. They were squishy on bumps and when going hard in corners, almost made it feel like they were low on air. I didn't notice them being that loud but I didn't have them on long enough to give them a real chance. The sidewall on them just isn't a good match for the weight of our cars, even worse with a 30 series tire.

I love pss. I run 295/20"s on my 6 coupe. The limited tire choices are making me apprehensive of going 21 as well. I would love to be able to stay pss, but unobtainable and $$$$ in 21s ..yikes!
