About to go straight to stage 2...but quick question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I finally have an appointment for next week to go from stock(currently) straight to stage 2. Obviously I am getting a smaller pulley size since I'm going stage 2....but just thinking do I need any new "belts" when I'm upgrading to stage 2 or is just a new pulley. I thought it was a pulley and belt??? Thanks in advance for the insight.

Your pulley should include a new belt. What software are you going with?

You will get a new belt with your pulley. If your going with Ed @ Induktion you will not be disappointed. He took good care of me when I went there...good luck

The smaller SC pulleys use the stock size belt. Some come with a new belt but it is the factory belt. If your belt has some miles on it, may as well pick up another one and swap it at the same time.

The belt is the same size. Many pulley kits include a new (oem-size) belt, but it's not necessary if yours is in good shape.

edit: Mike beat me to it!

This is great news about getting a new belt as well as a smaller pulley. Are you 100% positive. I was going to call Ed to double check tomorrow. As of right now I am getting an Emmanuel Designs pulley and GIAC Stage 2 software as well a GIAC DSG. I can hardly wait. K9lovr: what pulley and software did you end up going with? How do you like your Stage 2?

Nice man. Yea Ed's the man!!! I am also interested in the fluidampr pulley but am hesitant because reviews have said that it creates engine vibrations. Can anyone verify either way if it does or does not?

Actually the fluidampr does the exact opposite. Its a dampened pulley.

Not sure what Stage 1 you had but mine feels noticeably more powerful than stock, all over the powerband. So much so, I'm not in a huge rush to go Stage 2...it will happen at some point though.

I've been waiting patiently for a long time(almost 3 yrs) to tune this car and have done my research. I feel like everybody likes stage 2 the most. It seems that it is reliable for a daily driven car and the DSG tune is suppose to be icing on the cake. My appointment is next Wednesday and I can hardly wait!!! Obviously I will have a huge review of stage 2 in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!!! get it. haha

It's a definite change from stock but the low end power just wasn't there for me.

Right on man . Anytime I run into a local who asks if I'm happy going with stage 2, I tell'em, 'yea, it's worth it' (most of the time with a shitty grin on my face). Not happy about the Audi tax or general communication from GIAC (PM or forums), but the tune is solid. Can't imagine going back to stock....so boring, lol.

Not that I am in a hurry to go out and start doing quarter miles to see the improvement after I go Stage 2 but what kind of times should I expect with stage 2 and DSG tune? I'm stock otherwise with 19's Peelers. I hoping for low 12's btw. Maybe in the high 11's.

In good DA, entirely possible. If you use Launch Control, you should be able to get decent and consistent times. Some people use the 'Primetime' method which seems to net better 60 fts and times. I've only seen a description of it, still waiting for somebody to do a video, lol.

Btw, you should probably look into upgrading the air intake. The OEM is a bit restrictive, plus it's too quiet, lol.

Edit: Just saw your sig...slap that RE on! What are you waiting for? lol

Answered your questions in the PM but the bottom line is I am happy with the GIAC pulley and tune to include the DSG tune.
