    Help! Coolant instantly empty

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I got a low coolant warning. The coolant was totaly empty. I refilled and when I start the car the coolant drains immediately. I see no leaks.
Any suggestions, what can make the coolant drain so fast? hope its not the head/gasket.

Its also possible the system was completely empty hence why once you filled it up and started it it went empty again due to air pockets. Check out where that coolant is going tho. That low means its leaking or being consumed.

The car is not smoking white, i have put in 6 litres of coolant. I havent taken of the plastic belly pan, will do tomorrow I really hope I find an obvious leak. but if it's losing this much coolant through a leak surely I would have seen it even with the belly pan in place right?

have you done any sort of service to the coolant system recently? if you put 6 liters of coolant in and lost it that quickly you would notice it all over the ground even with the belly pans on. thats a lot of fluid. maybe a Aux radiator bit the dust and it leaking or while you drive it forces it out through a small crack or hole. either way get under the car asap and look around and report back.

Thanks for the response guys, I removed the belly pan, which had a big rip in it. It looks like I hit something, I remember hearing I light bang while driving before I got the coolant warning but dint feel likeanything major.
It is indeed the aux radiator (passengerside) that is the culprit, the bracket that is holding the radiator is bent slightly downward and the coolant is leaking from 2 plastic plug things on the underside of the radiator (no idea why I didnt notice anything yesterday because it's leaking hard).
Are these plugs part of the radiator and is replacement the only option of is there an easier fix?

glade you found the problem, Aux rad is relatively easy to replace. i usually remove the bumper to get at it. while you're in there replace your snub mount and upgrade to the JHM auto tensioner and maybe the 6 rib pulley if your up for it!! BTW check Genuine Audi Parts for some good pricing

With the bumper off theres tons of stuff you can do. Good time to do a lot of stuff or all of it.

I replaced my Aux rad with an A4 unit and think it was quite a bit cheaper. Bracket might need adjusting.
