BWT turbo replacement

So after many many months of playing James Bond and smoke screening people I've decided to address my issues.
My 2007 2.0T 6MT with ~97,000 on the clock has killed its turbo. I haven't bothered to check the play in the shaft but eh.
I've done compression test, leak down test, valve cover gasket replaced, entire PCV replaced and keep up with maintenance on the regular.
I wanted to go JHM stage 3 but recent house purchase and a plan to replace my B7 avant with a E63 wagon in the next few years means its not worth it.

I have a HPFP, HFC, full turbo back and JHM stage 2 tune.

Just wanted to see if besides ECS if there any other good places to buy a new replacement?

Should I stay away from the F23L Hybrid Turbocharger? its about the same price as the OEM unit at ECS ?

I'd say send your k03 to a turbo shop and have them re- it and build it to K04-64 specs. I got a quote from a turbo shop for around $700 to reman a k03 core.

From what I have seen, b7 people have not had good luck with the F23L. Seems the b5 crowd does well with Frankenturbo, but they poop out quickly for us.

No personal experience besides reading about nightmares. I would just buy a used one on the cheap and swap it out, just my .02. Did this recently and am going strong again.

If your really good at ing. remove the turbo cartridge and send out to http://timsturbos.com/ and have your old one re- for 350.00 with warranty
