I posted a thread early today asking for recommendations. One that I seen to be popular is the 034 motorsports harness repair kit for $185. More recently from the last year or so , ECS came out their own kit at 75/80 shipped . don't know how it is in terms of quality but both offer easier and cheaper solutions to replacing the whole thing with OEM wires. Those are the two harness I know of at the moment as other places no longer stock or discontinued making their own kits.

I just picked this up https://www.ecstuning.com/ES2506749/
from ECS 2 weeks ago for $53 shipped and posted about it, but now they have jacked it to $129 shipped. The harness colors don't match up to the A4 but it was only minor.

I had the harness kit from 034. It's very good, but the wiring kit doesn't go back all the way to the ECU. It covers most situations where the cracks in the wires are closest to the heat of the engine. This worked fine for me for a few years, but then I had more issues and determined the rest of the original wire harness was going bad. I've replaced the 034 kit and the rest of the ignition wire harness with the kit from ECS Tuning which is complete from ECU to ignition coils.

For added protection and to clean up the look in the engine bay, I also picked up an ignition wire conduit that is normally found in a Mk 6/7 GTI. Cheap to get. Looking into something similar for the fuel injector wires.

Do you have a link to those items? I know the kits don't run all the way to the ECU but I didn't see one that did. I'm particularly interested in the GTI piece.

Just buy new pigtails for $15 on Amazon and butt connect them in. Takes 30 minutes and saves you a ton of money...

This is the wiring conduit in Black: Clicky click

This is the wiring conduit in Red: Clicky click

The coil pack harness kit they are showing for the 1.8T is similar to the one done by 034 which does not go all the way back to the ECU.

Here's what I bought for a complete replacement: Clicky click This is a complete replacement of the ignition wire harness from ECU to each coil pack.

USP no longer sells them as VW has discontinued them. That is why ECS doubled the price of theirs... eBay has it for $99 shipped if that is the route OP wants to go...

No problem.. I've done that on both my B6s and it works great. Just be sure to get the right butt connectors. They are the type that heat shrink and are pink.

Thanks. Btw I like what you did with your harness reroute. Always good to see people trying different things!

No problem and thanks... I'm not sure the reroute is going to do anything but I'd like to think it will.. I've got an idea to clean it up even more...

Just saw your response in the other thread. I did not realize it was THAT much cheaper to source these parts. My only concern is the durabilty. I know nothing last forever in these cars but I would like to put something in and not have to worry about replacing anything for a long while.

I would bet that the quality of the connector is the same or better than the OEM one. You can add OEM rubber boots (like the original ones) for $5 each and then use some high quality fireproof sheathing and still be under what others charge for a "kit" (which doesn't even include rubber boots or sheathing).

Would this option tie back into the ECU like the discontinued kit by USP or splice into the existing wires like the ECS/034 kit does?

What is the difficulty on building a kit like the one you did? Is there a DIY I can refer too? I don't mind doing the work myself but I wouldn't have an idea on how to build a kit myself buying all these separate pieces.

Anyone know if this kit works: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Wire gauge sounds like it's a little smaller from reviews. Think I might go this route rather than the entire harness from ECS or 034.
