kufatec power seat harness & rear seat heater harness

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
so i was fortunate enough to snag a set of recaros on the forums...read through a ton of recaro install threads and decided that i just wanted to make it as easy as possible and ordered the kufatec power seat harness...

my car already has heated seats so i only needed the power part of the harness (red connector i believe)...

nice thing is the set of recaros i snagged have heated rear seats so i picked up the rear seat heater harness from kufatec as well...i already have the switch for the rear seat heaters from an RS4 that i picked up from 65vetteC6...

has anyone here used the kufatec harness before https://www.kufatec.us/shop/en/categ...cat=23&mcat=15???

all of the threads have links to photos that are broken...i promise i'll take photos of the install and host them for eternity if someone has any insight as to how the harness works!!!

There are 3 connections on the back of the rear heated seat switch and one connection under the rear seats. At least that's how it looks to me.

Yes, that's all there should be to it.
I'm in the same boat as you, so I'll be watching this!

Edit: You should be able to get a manual on how to connect it from Kufatec. On the harness porduct page, click Download and enter your info and that should give you a link to a PDF describing how to hook it up. I cannot access it since I didn't buy a harness yet.
Also, from the picture, it looks like you need to do this:
    - connect the harness to the rear heated seat switch (2 connections for left/right)
    - connect the 12-pin harness end to the connection on the seat
    - connect ground to a ground point (is there one under the center console?
    - connect the other connector (red wire) to power 12V

that's what i thought...unfortunately, no manuals provided by kufatec for either harness...

i get where the red connectors and ground go, but i'm not sure where to mount the power wire...would there be a problem if i ground it in the same spot i grounded my podi?

does it need constant or switch 12v?

Any proper chassis grounding point will work. I don't know all the locations, but there are some in the rear pillars in Avant, for example. For power, it should be switched 12V power. I think that abbreviation (Kl. 30 and Kl. 15) is suggesting a fused 30A/15A location, but I'm just guessing here. I wonder if it can be tapped at the fuse panel. Is the harness long enough to get there? If yes, it's meant to go there, I'd say.

i haven't been able to find any pictures online that definitively show me which fuse slot is for the driver's side powerseat...the more that i think about it, the tip of the power wire looks like it was meant to be inserted into a fuse slot, although i'm not 100% sure of that...

Try emailing Kufatec. They should help out.

so my kufatec harnesses came in today...does anyone have any idea what kind of power connections these are?

here is the power connector for the front power seats (my stock seats are manual/heated, swapping in power/heated recaros):

here are the power connectors for the rear seat heaters (my stock rear seats are not heated, swapping in heated rear recaros), there are two of these types of connectors for the rear seat heater harness:

i've never seen these types of electrical connections before...nor am i sure how to actually use them...

it would be nice if kufatec actually had a manual that showed how to use them, but they don't and all they offered was a paragraph worth of instructions in german that ended up being a bunch of gibberish when i used google translate...

also, i've been scouring the interwebz trying to find a diy for carpet removal but haven't been able to find anything...i'd like to run the wires under the carpet for a nice and clean stealth install...

Those connectors are meant to be inserted into some kind of connector. You can tell by the little locking pieces on the side of the metal end. Once you insert them, you cannot pull them out without releasing them properly.
The strange part is that on their website, there are no wire endings in the picture for the rear seat heater harness.
Can you post a full pic of the rear harness with its connectors?

Post the German paragraph and perhaps someone can make some sense of it. I'll try my best with my gzermen.

    Sitzheizung hinten

so i'm a little irritated because i thought the "manual" that came with the harness was an actual manual...i have absolutely no idea where to insert that wire...

Basically it's saying the single red/white wire that comes out of the harness connects to fuse #44, which is constant 12V.
The brown wire goes to the body grounding point behind the drivers kickpanel.
The black wire goes to fuse S5 which will be a switched 12V signal.
Both wires with the crimped ends like you showed will push directly into the back of the fuse panel at each position for a factory like installation.

so here are the two harness laid out...

this one is for the front power seats, i'm holding the ground:

this is the rear seat heater harness, again holding the ground, i connected the two portions of the harness that connects to the rear heat switches so i'm assuming the other end connects to the seats:

both of these harnesses were obviously designed to plug into a specific connector in the car, i wish kufatec could have made where that connection is clear...i going to drive to VA from CT to pick up my seats on the 8th and will be royally pissed if i can't figure out how to connect the front power seat harness when i pick them up...

i'm not sure if the seats will fit in my car so i'm just going to swap the fronts out when i pick them up and figure out how to deal with the rears later on....

That's what I noticed in your photo but it does look like they are labeled. One seems to say battery plus, which would be your 12V constant wire. The other would be the switched 12V.

even more confusing is that on the rear seat heater harness, the ends the should be inserted into the fuse box somewhere are different widths...

on google translate, dauerplus = life plus...i'm guessing that loosely translates to "constant 12v"?

zondungsplus translate to zondungsplus...so through the process of elimination i'm guessing this means switched 12v?

Yes dauerplus means constant 12V. The reason for the different sizes is because fise S5 is actually separate from the main fuse panel. It is actually under the dash above the driver's footwell on a separate smaller fuse panel.

Zundungsplus is literally ignition plus, or keyed 12V

is fuse S5 in this pictures at all?

It looks like since you already have seat heaters you need to tap into the wire coming from Fuse 44 for your constant power supply. Apparently the information was missing some important details, it seems it should have listed the keyed fuse as S45 instead of a non-existent S5 fuse. In your photo it is the far right orange fuse holder with the red fuse in it. You will also want to tap into the fused side of this wire for the rear seat heaters.

The manual lists it as a red socket although in your picture it looks more Orange to me.

so I ended up inserting the plug on the front seat harness here (grey wire inserted three slots up)...this is the back of the main fusebox with the rear cover removed...

I didn't have time to run the rear seat harness, and I need to remove the front and rear seats again at some point to run all the wiring under the carpet...I plan on plugging the rear seat heater harness for the constant power in the same location I wired the front harness, although I am at a loss as to where to plug the smaller portion of the plug (the "zondungplus" wire)for switched power, the underside where all the fuses are looks somewhat different than the photo above, i'll snap one later when I clean up the wiring...

I also received this harness but havent had time to tackle this retrofit. Which fuse # did you put that terminal in post 42? It looks like fuse #42 since its 3 spots up.

    Subscribed!

so i finally got around to rewiring the front seat harness...i didn't go under the carpet but since i was throwing in a b7 console i decided to wire the harness under the center console...

at some point i'm going to have to strip the whole interior to run the rear seat harness...fuc* that business till next year...

anyway, here is how the front harness was wired originally...

i ran the wires behind the seats and under the main wiring...

    through the middle like so...

    up through the front...

    tidy up underneath...

    took a sip of coffee...

    ahh yea...

    finished my sammich...

Subscribed. I ordered the rear seat harness a while back too. Have it plugged into the seats and switches, and wires ran under the console, but haven't gotten around to connecting it yet.

Yikes! I had no idea there was so much involved in swapping in power seats. I picked up some used power, heated front seats (driver's side is power anyway) for my car...only to discover they won't work. My original seats are heated but no power lumbar (apparently the skankiest seats you could get in an B6 A4).

So from what I gather if your car doesn't have at least power lumbar from the factory then there is no power running to the socket(s) under the seat, and you need to run a harness. I'm a bit confused as to what is needed though. Will this harness provide power to both the seat controls AND the lumbar adjustment?

    https://www.kufatec.us/shop/en/retro...di-a4-b7-a4-b6

The pictures are a bit confusing. They show a harness with a black connector that is used for heat, then another harness with a red connector that is for power adjustment. Then ANOTHER harness with both red and green sockets...but they say that is for heat and power adjustment?

Bringing this Back from the dead.

Where did you plug in the switched power lead? I have the constant power in the main block inside the passenger door. But i can't figure out which place to do switched. I am thinking of using a blank spot in the top of the same fuse panel, but i would rather put it in the harness or fuse block where it belongs and not be tapping wires
