    7000 Redline

I wonder if anyone can answer this for me. My S6 is a great car I like it a lot. But the 6,500 redline or whatever it is feels low. Has anyone created. TCU tune to increase this to say 7k?
I saw that MRC in the UK tuned an RS6 to over 7000 so apart from it being a custom tune surely it's doable right?
We'd then make more power and be able to enjoy a larger powerband.
Maybe I've missed a thread where this has been discussed but I couldn't find anything definitive. APR GIAC Revo Unitronic EPL anyone feel free to chip in on how possible or likely this will be in the future.

Generally turbo'd cars have lower redlines. Not sure you'd want to go to 7k without upgraded cooling.

Would 500rpm really be that much strain on our motors? I don't think the MRC car had upgraded cooling it didn't mention it anyway. The B4 S4s are running way over that. I know they are supercharged but don't turbos spin faster?

Yes, absolutely it would make a big difference. Also, that MRC car you're referring to has TONS of upgrades. I also doubt that engine is going to last very long like that. The power starts tapering and the torque really starts dropping off in the higher RPMs.

The factory turbo are pretty much out of steam by 6500rpm. Once you upgrade to the RS6/7 turbos (stage 3) then it makes more sense to rev that high.

I'd be concerned about valve train stability

I do think APR offers a valve guide upgrade or a kit to stabilize

Coming from a Z06!that redlined at 7k but had a lot of valve failures this had me really concerned, why would APR work on a solution to a problem that didn't exist

But I bought anyway and haven't heard a peep about valve issues. But to raise the RPM, I wouldn't want any part of that

If you go stage 3 with upgraded turbos, coolant, etc. The APR Stage 3 TCU tune raises the rev limit for the S6/S7s. I can't remember exactly what it raises it up to but I've seen mine rev up to 7k rpm...

This is easily done... I doubt it will net "real" performance gains in anyway.

Thanks for chipping in Tony :-)
So other than turbo upgrades and downpipes what else could be done to see more real world gains to this platform? Big injectors, meth injection, e85 tune?
Just be interesting to know how much we can safely get out of the S6/S7 before you're spending more than upgrading to the RS models. I kinda don't want to spend more than £2-3k on mods on top of my tune as I could trade up for an RS6 any more than that.

Z06 has a push rod motor I believe. Whole other animal than a proper OHC setup.
