Blown Tial 605 turbos, please help

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My 605.1 turbos blew recently and unfortunately the wheels in both are badly mangled. I sent the turbos to a rebuilder in NY however they were unable to source the correct wheel for my turbos, the only option they gave me was getting custom made wheels to fit in the turbo for nearly 2 grand.
I've contacted Tial but have yet to get a response, plus I heard Tial is backed up lately which would increase my wait time even more.

Is there anything I can do to avoid getting the wheels custom made? The cars in the shop with no engine and Id like to resolve this as quick as possible, if anybody has information that can help me please share, I appreciate the help.

I heard Tial can rebuild them for about a grand, and upgrade to 770s for about 2 grand. Id like to know where I can source the wheels Tial used bc my rebuilder cannot source them. Im awaiting a reply from Tial but Id much prefer sourcing replacement wheels rather than sending the turbos to Tial.

With such a small amount of people running tial turbos (therefor a small amt getting rebuilds) I'd say you'd be hard pressed to find the info you're looking for

I had my 605.1s rebuilt in Jan for 900$. That included one new CHRA and rebalance on both. I think it was 6 or 7 weeks door to door. Tial did the work.

Just curious, what's the mileage and driving style with the 605s? Were you able to identify the root failure? Oil type? I've witnessed 605s ran hard, like REALLY hard, with no abnormal wear.

you could try to find some chras for it (the innards) if your turbine housing (the outer shell) is undamaged. I'd definately contact Tial first (and a distributor for them) to see what options are available. If you're really in a rush, you could just buy some new ones and then try to sort it out and/or sell what you got.
