    HELP! Starting/idling issue?

Done my research but now I can't pinpoint it... Last few weeks the car (01.5 S4) has taken its time cranking, sometimes just a second more, sometimes 10. Despite the time it would ALWAYS turn over, but the idle would be a bit goofy and the power delivery was odd until the car ran for almost a minute. Then today I walk out to start my car, cranks way longer than it ever has, so I just backed off to try again. Started instantly the second time I turned the key, then it idled for about 3 seconds then died. This happens every time now, and the only way to keep it from dying is to give it throttle (still the strange (almost jumpy) delivery. At first I thought it was the fuel pressure regulator or maybe even the fuel pump itself, but now I'm not sure.. I greatly appreciate any input/2 cents on my issue. Thank you!!

Update: managed to get the car to start, although the power delivery is still inconsistent until the engine begins warming. It has to be something with the fuel delivery, I just need some insight on where/how/what to check before I blow stacks at a shop. Any help is much appreciated!

I'm willing to bet it's your coolant temperature sensor. Get a new one and throw it in, is the car throwing any codes/check engine lights?

Simular problem going on. Replacing coolant sensor did'nt work (The green one on the back).

They say CPS or Hall or something. It's starting just fine it needs some more time at some (cold) days.

Coolant temp sensor is what I'm going to bet on, considering my temp gauge had been reading warm the past few days. Will be replaced when I return to the country :)
