    Repair harness recommendations

    Hello all ,

I was looking into updating/replacing the coilpacks for my 2003 1.8 engine when I stumbled onto this thread. http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...ks-on-the-1-8T

There I realized that my wiring could use some attention before doing anything else. I had been looking into getting the 034 harness since I read good things about them. https://store.034motorsport.com/harn...FZaMaQodG20IUw

ECS also has their kit for about half the price and includes a crimping tool ( although it's not that great based on reviews) shown here. https://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B5_A4...ion/ES3082311/ (The link shows for a B5 but it is the same for the B6)

The ECS kit has been out for some time now and was wondering if anyone could compare it to the kit that 034 sells.

The ECS is definitely more price friendly but curious on anyone's experience with the quality, fitment, issues, and ease of installation ( or not) .
Are these kits better in quality than sourcing oem pieces that was in post #231 of that B5 thread?

Would really like to hear your opinions and recommendations.

I just ordered pigtails from amazon for $15 and used butt connectors with heatshrink. Took about 30 minutes total. The ECS and 034 kit are the same but $100 cheaper from ECS. Only problem is they are back ordered until August 29th...

Here is what mine look like after the pigtail install.

I will be adding heat wrap to them at a later date.

That's the same thing I did with my fuel injector harness - got some pigtails and butt connectors.

Wow, I didn't even see back ordered date so thanks for letting me know. I also did not think about sourcing parts through amazon. Do you have links to the parts you got on Amazon?

I'll be honest though, I'm not as engine savvy as lot of posters are so I'd much prefer something that was already set up and would like to keep it OEM looking as possible which is why I was looking at those two kits specifically.

I'll paste what another poster (walky_talky20) wrote in the other thread for another cheaper option:

I think option 3 is a silly waste of money. If you want to do it right and yet not spend more than necessary, I would suggest:

    This harness:
    http://www.europaparts.com/coil-pack...j0971658l.html

    These coils:
    http://genuineaudiparts.com/parts/in...&siteid=214407

    These adapters:
    http://genuineaudiparts.com/parts/in...&siteid=214407
Check out said adapters here. http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Site...658L/ES283074/

Total with shipping to my house? $172.17 USD
Total if I bought from ECS? $189.52 USD

Way less than the 034 kit at $266.57 shipped. And you don't have to use your old crusty harness, or have a pile of adapters hanging out in your engine bay. Yes you will have to crimp a couple wires. It will be devastatingly difficult. (not really)

    Full harness for $99 Here

Or you can do it for $30 and by these.... (plus $26 for the rubber boots)

    Butt Connectors

    Coil Pigtails

    OEM rubber boots

Then source some fire wrap and be on your way....

I will just reply to you here for the other post. All I did was cut off the old connectors and added the new ones. It is very simple to do. Just make sure you only do 1 connector at a time as to not mix anything up. If you order the parts and need any help just PM me and I will try my best to walk you through it...
