Over the past month I have finally gotten to my breaking point and started using the air conditioning in my 2015 S4. I have noticed what seems to be an unusual behavior, which is that I can crank the fan speed up to 8 and above, i.e. to the point where the fan noise becomes very loud, yet it does not feel like there is much air coming out of any of the vents, regardless of which distribution setting I have it on (i.e. feet only, center only, top only, Auto, etc.). There is some air flow coming out of the vents, but the amount of fan noise seems far too much for the relatively small amount of flow coming out of the vents.
Eventually, the air coming out of the vents becomes cool enough to make the car comfortable, but in no way is it forceful or cold.....just gentle and cool. And it takes probably ~10 minutes in hot weather for the air to even start being cool. Meanwhile my wife's 2015 GTI will start giving you frostbite if it's on full blast for 5 minutes.
In my 2012 S4 I had the pressure switch in the aircon unit fail, but the symptom was elevated air temperature and not decreased air flow. Admittedly I have not changed out the cabin air filter in the 2015 and I have 22500 miles. Does the description above sound like a symptom of a dirty cabin air filter?
