    car overheating

had the AC on full blast due to the 85 degree weather here and noticed that the AC started to feel warm. i then noticed the coolant gauge on the left and the needle was steadily climbing towards the H. i pulled over immediately

are these symptoms of a thermostat failure? i know there are a million threads like this and i've already searched, but my car is sitting in a random parking lot and time isn't really on my side

if this IS the thermostat, has audi done anything to cover it? i read a few old threads about a RVU but the dealer said there is nothing for my VIN

    thanks

I can't remember if these are covered but, I imagine you could convince them to cover it.

It is likely the thermostat. You could either get it towed into the shop or drive there with the heat blasting and closely watch the gauge.

Yep, agree that the T-stat is toast, failed shut. Is this the first T-stat for your car ( 2010 )?

Yes, water pump was a problem on early cars B8 2010/11. T-stat is still plastic prongs that break as far as I know. Definitely Achilles heel and costly to fix out of warranty at dealer. What a crime that they know it.

$ 750-1200 depending on your dealer. Indy shop should definitely be less. There might also be DIY out here somewhere if you are so inclined, supercharger has to come off.

Just had same problem with my 2011... High temp warning on Friday night. Drove home 8 miles with heat on. Next day, catastrophic engine failure. Interested to see how this goes for you.
