Question stock brake lines with Q5 calipers

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Tomorrow I am going to do the Q5 brembo brake upgrade. I have the calipers, pads, wear sensor and OEM S4 B7 345 discs.

But will the OEM brake lines work with this? I know the kit from ECS tuning includes brake lines, but I don't have those.

Also I need to make an adapter for the wear sensor on side since the Q5 calipers have it only on one caliper whereas the original A4 calipers has it on both. Easy thing to make an adapter from the old pads - but should it be shorted or open?

Agreed but there's enought info for you to know you wont be able to use oem brake lines. They're MK1 or MK3 lines, I'll edit once I have confirmation from my friend who helped me with the install who's more familiar with VW products.

    Edit : MK3 2.0L

Just remove the dust shields all together. You don't need them. People keep them on for precaution but unless you live in a place that is constantly kicking up rocks and dirt its not necessary. You do need new lines. StopTech makes some good ones. Can't think of the part number but you will need new ones. Any of the big name sites sell them as well as eBay.

Bah VAG couldnt get me these brake lines as promised today anyways. I cancelled the order because of their pricing, gonna buy from somewhere else.

Just wanna check - are we sure about the part number 1H0611701 ? (golf/jetta/rabbit mk3)

And do you think I should go for the OEM lines or go for something fancy?

I'm not 100% postive but close to. I'm basing this from what my friend which is a vag mecanic told me. He helped me install the Q5 brakes and said those brake lines look like VW MKIII brake lines. From the pictures it looks exactly the same.

I bought mine from a member here (Blue-Angel) who said thats what I needed for the Q5 brakes, they was no part number on the package unfortunatly.

In post #32 of this thread someone mentios MKI brake lines work.

Post #56 is exactly what I have.
