Steering Wheel Probs

On the top of my steering wheel is a patch of rougher leather. If I ever turn my AC off on a warmer day, my steering wheel gets extremely sticky and the top part almost sheds off little pieces of black leather. I tried to clean it with a damp microfiber and that only made it worse. While it might sound like I just have an extremely worn steering wheel, when AC is on it feels brand new... Curious to see how I can fix this. I'm in love with the feel of Alcantara steering wheels, but the price tag that goes with them is pocket-draining.

Warranty? You could also try a leather cleaner and conditioner. Seems weird to me. However, on a hot day, the back of my seats where the map pockets are get sticky, so... ya, Audi sucks. WTH?
