    HELP! - JHM Tune

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
First off let start by saying I love this car('07 RS4), but owning this thing has been quite the roller coaster. I bought it last October with 97k mikes and have put 11k miles on it since... and just over $10k in maintenance/repairs. It's very close to being up to my standards but I'm still fighting misfires. I bought a cable from Ross-Tech to start doing some troubleshooting on my own. Anyway, on to my question. Does my car have a JHM tune on it? Why does it say "4.4L 93/V6 JHM"?

Thanks in advance for any help. This forum has been an invaluable help for a relatively rare car.

Yeah im with Paul. You really need to be carefoul about gas when you have 93 tune. Thats why i rather run 91 and be safe than sorry.

Yeah, you'll probably be running pretty lean if you use 91 on the 93 tune. I just bought a cheetah cable from JHM so I can reflash when I have to drive back to CO with crappy 91

What have you done for maintenance?

The local RS4s to me have been replacing spark plugs, fuel filter, engine air filter, and PCV valve. Along with rebuilding/flow matching or replacing the fuel injectors and doing a carbon clean.

I'm in Michigan so we have 93 here but I still have issues. I just filled up with 5 gal of 110 and 10 gal of 93. I'm hoping that will help me diagnose whether I need to dial back on the tune or if its something else. I'd like to switch to the 91 octane tune but since it was on the car when I bought it I have a hard time buying something to detune. As far as maintenance goes I've done all new plugs, coils, cc, all 4 O2 sensors, fuel filter, pcv... basically everything I can think of short of injectors. My fuel trims are all right around 1.5-2.5% so I didn't thing they were an issue but aside from the tune I think that's just about the only thing left. My misfires are intermittent and across all cylinders which makes me think its fuel related.

The FSI fuel injectors are really sensitive to issues. It is worth it to either send them off to Race City Injector or replace with the R8 Hitachi injectors from RockAuto.com. Especially with the high mileage that your car has. Back in April or May I did a carbon clean on a RS4 with just over 90K miles and it was horrible! It was a good thing that he got new injectors.

Jimmy which ones would you recommend for the B7 S4 on rockauto? I need to change mine out as well. Having the same issues.

Anyone have any experiences running the 93 tune with 94 octane fuel? I'm going to be purchasing a JHM tune, and run 94 in my B7... just didn't know if there is a big difference between the 91 and 93 tune...

I would definitely look into replacing injectors if you haven't already. We have progressively seen more and more injector failures/issues as these FSI engines get older.
