I'm hoping someone can help me!!!

I have a 2005 S4 with about 175K on it. I drove to the market and everything was fine. Went to come back and it barely started and had a rough idle (like it was ready to stall). I managed to drive it back home but had no power. It was like driving a low torque diesel truck. The RPMs would climb very slowly as did my MPH. An hour later, I went out to tinker with it, and it wouldn't start at all. A friend plugged in the scanner and it said bad bank 1 camshaft sensor and something like "low output" on bank 2. For $45 I threw a new camshaft sensor in bank 1 just to see. No change. Still won't start. Doesn't even fire at all. So I put a fuel pressure gauge in the line right before the T at the motor. First time I turned the key on and checked, it was at 15psi, then I turned it over and it went to 55psi (still not starting of course). Another time I went out (after the fuel pressure had dropped back down in the teens) I turned the key on and it went to 53 (with just the ignition on), then to 55 when I turned it over (no starting). I would love to trouble shoot this myself. Can anyone give me some more testing ideas? Or should I start replacing sensors in a certain order? Or should I give up and have a rollback take it to the dealership? I appreciate any help and any suggestions!!

    Thanks in advance,

    Jason

in before Tim, Have you checked your FPR? Seriously, I would look into that. Start it up and pull the hose to the FPR. If no change, you should look into changing it. Do you have any codes? Get it scanned first as it may be trying to tell you something is wrong. Your fuel pressure does sound problematic, but how much do you trust your gauge? What was your pressure gauge like before the problems?

Did the camshaft codes come back after replacing the sensor?

It still won't start...is there any other way to test the FPR? I do have codes...bad camshaft position sensor-bank 1. Low output (I believe that's how it was worded) on bank 2. I'm not sure how accurate my gauge is, and I've never tested the pressure before this problem. I have one of those kits for testing pressure. I put the gauge in the line right before the T at the fuel rails just to see what happened. So I really have no baseline to compare it to.

I haven't had my friend over to rescan for me. Would the codes change even if the car hasn't been able to start? I have had the battery disconnected several times, so that might have reset codes, but would they come back without it starting?

    Timing chain jumped time
Compression test the engine I bet you jumped time and the car now needs a few grand worth of parts. The v8 chain drive engines are ticking time bombs
