    Is my ECU garbage?!?!

    car is a 2001 A4 1.8t AWM.

ive been using Maestro just fine for months on this ecu just fine. last week i tried to flash in a new file and it stopped at "Verifying 90-00" and threw a message for a session timeout. then it threw a message saying i need to license my ecu blah blah blah. It will also not except any softcode changes thru VAGCOM either.
so i scanned it for codes and there are two recurring codes, P0600 - serial link communication and P0688 - ECM power relay sense circuit. i have since verified that the ecm relay, and all other realys and every single fuse and ground in the vehicle are good. i have a spare stock ecu and am running that for now with stock hardware and it runs fine and does not throw any codes other than for my missing LDP, EVAP stuff, etc.

My maestro tuned ECU is behaving exactly the same on my benchflashing setup. it will not except a flash, or softcode changes, but i can still scan and clear codes. it is still throwing the P0600 and P0688 codes, but when i connect the K-line, it throws the P0600 and i different code for ECM power relay-short to plus. i opened the ECU case and there are no signs of corrosion, burning, etc on the associated pins (or anywhere else)

I am really seeking some insight as to what to do now to save the ecu, i would like to not have to buy another $500 license for another ecu.
so far all eurodyne has said is try and flash at a slower speed...didnt work.

I would hope that Eurodyne would trade you a new license for the junk ECU.

Yea if its not your fault then eurodyne should do everything it can to help you with the license.

To update this, I sent my Ecu out to someone to have them diagnose it and they sent it back to me after saying it was dead. I don't want to name the name of the shop, as they have a very good reputation with things like this which is why I chose them in the first place.

When I got the Ecu back, I put it on my bench and and after two try's of forcing boot mode, I was able to recover it. It had lost the license, but eurodyne was nice enough to reissue a license for it again.

All very confusing, but it's been working fine for 2 months now.
