side view mirror glass alignment

is there more than one way to reinstall the mirror glass, or better yet, can it be installed incorrectly? Just put new glass in both mirrors and its getting stuck against the housing and can't adjust the glass via the switch, wondering if i may have not put them in correctly
glass is really close at the bottom and the inside edge of mirror housing, has plenty of space on the top and outside edge

id just pull them and try again but thought I would ask first, last time i pulled the glass i broke it.

painted the mirrors but I don't think the paint is thick enough to not fit the glass anymore

I have to ask, they are installed right side up and on the correct side?

Are they original mirrors or eBay/ knock offs?

Original mirrors I bought them from a part out, same exact shape as my old ones. Was driving 300 miles today and spent a lot of time looking at the mirror pondering,
I don't think the housings/caps are seated properly and that's why the glass isn't fitting. Those caps don't go on very easily
