So I was driving home from the gym tonight and I had noticed a weird noise coming from my turbo. I didn't think it was much. But 2 minutes later, i had gotten to a stop light, and the whole car started shaking like crazy as if it was close to stalling. I pulled over and turned off the car and tried to start it up again and the same thing happened. Extremely rough idling. I had driven home and scanned it with an OBDII scanner since I have no VCDS. 7 codes came up. One of them saying turbocharger, and other were saying misfires in all 4 cylinders. (I would have provided you with the codes but my dad had cleared them thinking it would fix the issue...) I'm lost and have no clue what is going on. I'm in a desperate need for help.

what did the noise sound like from the turbo - can you take a video of it?

rough idle could be many things, but you can start by checking/replacing your coil packs and spark plugs...could also be carbon buildup...how many miles on the car?

    did you get a MIL?

Cool packs were changed not too long ago, just did carbon cleaning less than a month ago. I'm at 102k. No MIL either. The sound from the turbo sounded scratchy. It wasn't a whistle, it was a very feint scratchy whirl.

Pcv valve perhaps? Or you may have a boost leak somewhere causing to idle rough or die. Its usually one of those.

I finally had some time to look at the car, and it ended up having a vacuum line popped off under the engine cap.. does that just happen on its own?

Not to sound too negative but with the intake cleaning being a month ago likely it wasn't clipped back into place fully. I am guessing by the symptoms it was the hose from the intake manifold to the PCV?

you can leave it like that and just cap off the intake port if you like...less carbon deposits on your intake valves that way...also will help avoid blowing a rear main seal when your PCV dies and you've got a tune pushing well above stock PSI...

You can still blow a main seal with a PCV failure, but it's less likely.
