Brake noise due to 1 time use and an adhesive backing?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Dropped my car off today. Had some noise in the HUD and noisy brakes. HUD was fixed. There is a TSB out on it.

Brakes - I'm told that since the previous dealership that I bought it from may have took them apart most likely to inspect them (they can tell that they've been taken apart,) that the brakes are a 1 time use and have a 1 time use adhesive and that's why they are noisy. Brakes won't be covered under warranty.

Here's the thing - If I buy new pads with the special adhesive, there is no guarantee that the noise will go away because Audi specifies that a brake job consists of replacing the rotors as well!

    What do you guys think?

I suggest having the dealership you bought the car from fix the brakes for you. I assume you did not know they were taken apart, and it was not disclosed to you. So I would not think it's your fault, and thus Audi (that dealership specifically) should be taking care of that for you, especially for the price of that car.

Hey so a couple of things. It seems to me that everyone S6, S7 and RS7 complain about squeaky brakes on factory pads. Mine bug the crap out of me and have squeaked from when I bought the car with 30 miles on it.

2nd thing. I notice a weird humming noise from the inside plastic piece on my HUD when I go over certain roads. Was that the same issue you had?

thats the exact noise that i have on my hud. There is a TSB out on it. They replace the frame of the hud, add a foam insert, and then underneath the car, they add something to better dampen any vibrations or sounds. you should take your car in to get that fixed. mine was driving me crazy.

apparently because they are the brembo floating brakes, the only fix is new pads and rotors!

DJ...anyway u can record the noise?

I have some type of vibration/resonant kind of noise with certain kind of road. Hard to pinpoint where...but I think it maybe coming from the HUD or the B&O front center speaker grill.

So I definitely can however it only happens on certain roads. Next time it comes up for you just put your hand in the hud and there is a plastic piece closest to you and once you touch it the noise goes away. So if it doesn't go away for you then you have something else going on.

Hud was fixed? WAY cool. They "applied" the TSB on mine twice and looked at it 4 times, still rattles. It's the piece that goes across the back of the clear cover. It's to thin. When it vibrates I can lightly lay my finger on it and it stops. I fixed the center speaker grill my self by putting silicone on the clips, for those who had that problem.

Never had a problem with the brakes except they dust like a SOB!

Mine was "fixed" but they said any noise is just regular car noise. I disagree after driving home. I still hear it. It's just quieter. They installed some foam piece and said they did something under the car. Whatever. Still makes sounds.

An $80k car shouldn't have rattles, buzzes, squeeks or vibrations.
