    FCM failing?

Looking for some quick input. 2 days ago my AC stopped blowing cold unless i was driving and I could hear the fan start then stop repeatedly. I checked for codes last night and have 1 fault code. I ran the output test on the fans and they run for 3-4 seconds then stop. I'm thinking the issue is the fan control module. yes/no, something else?

It could be the fan(s) that are the issue. Disconnect each fan from the FCM and connect them straight to the battery to see if they spin properly. When I had the same problem you had it turned out to be a bad fan and the FCM was turning both of them off after 3-4 seconds as a safety measure. My drivers side (engine) cooling fan would spin but I could see the fan motor arcing like crazy. Replaced the fan and everything works great again.

Thanks for the input. I don't hear any arching when the fans turn on, so that's good (I guess). I'm at work already so I'll test the fans tonight when I get home. It hadn't occurred to me that the module is turning off to protect itself from failing fan(s). My B6 had the same error when the FCM went out, but with that car neither fans would run. Turned out both fans and module all failed...

That passenger fan is the one that is supposed to operate when the AC comes on. Sounds like you found your culprit.

I spliced the main fan back in then ran the output test and it kept spinning. I ordered a replacement aux fan yesterday and hope it's here by Tuesday. I'm going out to Las Vegas this coming weekend and would rather take my Audi then my wife's MK6 Jetta.
