    DSG failure....?

So, today, some friends and I decided to install my H&R sport springs. Jacked the car up using the pinch welds, and put the front on jack stands. I can see now why a local shop quoted me 900. Took 3.5 hours for the first front wheel. Anyways..got the 2nd wheels done. Put the wheels back on, and started the car to back it out and turn it around to do the rears. Put the car in reverse, and it popped up and said transmission malfunction, put car in P or it will roll. Went to first, and it just free reved...while making a whining sound. Put the car in neutral, and no sound. Put it in park, and it grinded a bit. Tried again, free reved, then went into park, and the car just rolled...Pulled the codes, and one was for vehicle speed sensor. Is it even remotely possible to fuck up a spring install? I had never done and audi, but a friend has done many. I don't want to believe its related. Car was also just flashed to APR stage 1 2 weeks ago. Car has 1,000 miles left of warranty. What should i do here?

Flash it back to stock and make sure it is your original file that was on your ecu and get it to the dealer if you still have warranty. I think that's the best course of action

Actually when I called around to everyone and their mom, all of the spring install prices were crazy high like $600-900 in labor...les Schwab was by far the cheapest at like $200, but they only install parts bought from them so they get you on prices by almost doubling them. They were still the cheapest at like $750 with parts, labor, alignment and sales tax.

Not sure how replacing springs turns into a transmission issue but you said speed sensor fault. Is it possible you unplugged the speed sensor at the front wheel and did not plug it back in. Or damaged the wire while installing the springs?

Oh. Well, didn't know that included alignment, still too much though. $750 with parts would have been perfectly reasonable if that included the springs.

But I digress. Attributing the dsg problem to this is unlikely unless some weird little sensor thing

It ended up being the axle. Which was already notated at audi, but they couldn't replicate it. We did not undo them, which others have not as well when doing springs. Drivers side spline popped out and broke. My dealership is being awesome though, and covering everything under warranty, so..all is well!

So the axle slipped out of the hub? Amazing it can drop that much with the arms and sway bar still connected.

Glad to hear, I had that same problem when I hit the curb. It popped out and the only thing was a grinding noise.

Doesn't take much sometimes. My 1st though was damaged/unplugged speed sensor or your axle popped out, but though you would probably see fluid leaking. Glad it's being taken care of! Never done axles on an S4, but lots of Jettas and Passats.
